Seeking the Seeker

[Isa 55:6 KJV Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:]

  1. to seek, require, desire, exact, request
  2. to resort to, seek, seek with care, enquire, require
The Lord doesn't hide from His people, He allows them to find Him, but it has a contingency. [Deu 4:29 KJV But if from thence thou shalt seek the LORD thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.]
Those "if's" in the bible have a lot of things hanging on them; promises of both blessing and cursing.

The promises that come from seeking God to name a few are; finding Him, receiving understanding, strength, healing,  rejoicing, life, protection, deliverance, good things, and to be made whole.

[1Ch 16:10-11 KJV Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD. Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his face continually.]
[Psa 34:10 KJV The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing.]
[Pro 28:5 KJV Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.]

We as His creation were given the ability to choose God or our own ways. From the beginning God has warned us not to go after our ways, which is a type of Egypt. [Isa 31:1 KJV Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!] [Psa 27:4 KJV One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.]

It sounds simple, to seek the Lord. But seeking is an action that requires work. If the Lord was at the top of the hill, seeking Him would be to climb the hill until you reached Him.
[Hos 10:12 KJV Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for [it is] time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.] It's not stopping until you get a hold of Him. Even when it seems like the Lord isn't there or rejecting even. [Gen 32:26 KJV And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And he said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.] the fact that Jacob wouldn't quit caused God to touch him and change his life forever.

God loves it when we will not let go, give up and are thirsty for Him.[Jhn 4:4 KJV And he must needs go through Samaria.] This women at the well has been remembered for thousands of years because she was thirsty. During those hidden moments in her life, she sought Him. And in turn, Jesus seeks the seeker. King David was another seeker that the Lord sought out. [Act 13:22 KJV And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.] Think for a moment, God is seeking me when I am seeking Him.

[Jhn 4:23 KJV But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.] That hour is here, get into the word, get into worship and seek the Lord Jesus, you'll never regret it.

But God!

Elder Mike Bobbitt preached “But God”
Psa 3:1-8 KJV 1 (A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.) LORD, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. 2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. 3 But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head. 4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. 5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. 6 I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. 7 Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. 8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
The story of Absalom’s betrayal to David and his fleeing from him is found in 2 Sam 15 and 16. Elder Bobbitt began his preaching with this Psalm and story to show how circumstances can look very bad for a child of God. Even from within your own family (Mat 10:36) or the house of God, enemies can rise up against you. However the “But God” factor is in your life through the promises of God’s word and David knew this. As you read over the account of Absalom, note how he worked behind the scenes to “rob” his own father of the kingdom by influencing the people. Then you’ll see when David flees with a small accompaniment supporting him; while his kingdom turned against him. As if things couldn’t get worse, Shimei comes out with curses at David, blaming him incorrectly for the kingdom being rent from Saul. (As it was Saul who disobeyed God and God is the one that rent it from him). David responds with the light of Truth within him and Psalm 3 broken down into parts, you can see how David and us alike, looked at this situation.
Ps 3:1-2, many and increasing are my troubles and enemies. 3-4 My confidence is in God despite what it looks like. 5-6 God’s protection is greater and I can rest in this. 7-8 God will and has always caused the enemy to be speechless through His delivering power.
Jos 1:8 KJV This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Elder Bobbitt continued on reading some of the 43 “But God” scriptures in the bible and adding today’s situations in like manner. I lost my job, but God. People are spreading lies about me, but God. Sickness is trying to overcome me, but God. Family and friends have forsaken me, but God. All this evil has come against me, but God.
Ending with Josephs story, the promises in the bible are our “but God” to hold onto. So tap into the Holy Ghost power and overcome. Gen 50:20 KJV 20 But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
Below are the 43 scriptures that state, “but God”.
