What will you exchange

[Mat 16:26 KJV For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?]
[Mat 16:27 KJV For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.]

This verse is a continuation of loosing your soul or gaining it. He shall reward every man according to his works. What are these works?

[Jhn 1:10 KJV He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.]
The waves, wind and elements knew Him as their creator, but the ones called out & who were suppose to know Him didn't. In fact it was these very people that hung Him on a tree. So we have physical world, the earth, dirt, air, water etc and the world as people.

[1Jo 2:15-16 KJV Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.]

"If he shall gain the whole world" and all that is in the world is the lust of the flesh (your inward desires), lust of the eyes (your outward desires) and the pride of life (pride or self glory); what are you gaining? What are you working for? Your inward desires, marriage, success, personal goals? What about that title or house you drive by or dream of. The next high or drunkenness. Some people "live for the weekend".

Not that some of these things are sin or wrong to have. But its a perspective. [Heb 12:16 KJV Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.]

Esau exchanged his birthright for the lust of the flesh. His hunger outweighed his love for his eternal salvation. The birthright was a "natural" right, but had eternal reward and Jacob knew it. And God knew that his heart wasn't towards the things of his soul; but natural, carnal, worldly. [Rom 9:13 KJV As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated.]

What will you exchange for Jesus? How much do you value Him over the world?

[Psa 145:3 KJV Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.]

When you compare all that is in this world to the God who created this world, it really is lost to your soul to put the beggarly elements over and above Him.

[Mat 6:33 KJV But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.]

Looking at it from this point, seek God and His will, ways with all that is in me and He not only gives me blessings in this life, but eternal life with Him. I get Jesus now and I get Him then.
What an exchange.
