[Gen 5:29 KJV And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed.]
As I have been pondering the animals in the Ark our church started it's annual Pastor and Sister Davidson Appreciation. That added a few thoughts to this.
To keep this short, I'm going to pull out statements within verses. Please read the account.
[Gen 6] 3... yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. (What a timeline given, but with a 950 year life span, what's a 120 years right? Noah lived a life that was forming an inner worth or value that God saw before the judgement came and the calling out of his life.)
[8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD. 9 These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.] God called the man of God out and gave him a mission to save his household and all that would get in the ark. Noah was just and perfect before God. This means that Noah had some things right and was mature enough to find grace in the eyes of God for this calling. God also sees the finished product, hence Job was called perfect in his imperfection. God didn't just call him, but his family. However God leads the head and the head leads the body. It's been testified about the things our Pastor did as a young man not knowing God, that were true inner character that God could use. A Pastor and his family to save all those that will get in the church or ark as it's typed out.
Our Pastor stepped out of the organizations and traditions of men when God gave him the uncommon, unfamiliar and outcast truth on the devil. You think the people of Noah's day thought he was crazy when he said rain was going to come. A flood was going to fill the earth. Rain was unheard of, but a flood was understood; not to the magnitude of it, but understood. Still happening now. The devil is carnal reasoning. To make it a fallen angel name Lucifer means you haven't read your bible. Lucifer is another name for the King of Babylon. A being that is everywhere tempting people to sin, causing problems or battles sounds like a god. And God said there is no other god. He doesn't know any. But coming from cultures (pagan) that believed in many gods, an evil god that they could blame for the pain or "bad" things done, sound like a great escape goat. But God's people have always known there is only one God. Here God explains that its the imagination or carnal reasoning that caused them to be punished. If the devil did it, then why isn't the devil punished. Why punish weak helpless humans. Because you make it up in your mind to live for God and obey Him or live according to your own understanding and feelings, imagination. So you reap what you sow.
[5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. 12 And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.]
[13 And God said ... behold, I will destroy them with the earth.] God is the judge and no one is going to bypass His judgments, wither they believe them or not. It's coming. Noah preached it then and our Pastor is preaching it now.
[14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch. 15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: ...] God gives some very specific instructions about the building of the ark. From pitch (Holiness inside & out) to floor plans, windows etc. Yes God is going to give the Pastor some very detailed instructions for the ark HE is building. Our Pastor has set standards and laid out the foundations that our church has been built upon. God called his family as well, with their own personal character to help build and keep the ark. There are certain that are unbend-able instructions. Acts 2:38 gospel of death, burial and resurrection. Holiness inside and out. One God and His name is Jesus. Spiritual communion, Holy Ghost filled by the evidence of speaking in tongues. Things that you can't change or your ark won't float.
[Gen 6:19-20 KJV And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female. Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.]
I find this interesting, when God first told Noah about the gathering of animals in chapter 6, it was two of every kind. But 120 yrs later and only seven days left, God tells him seven of the clean and 2 of the unclean.
[Gen 7:1-4 KJV And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth. For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.]
Now what got me thinking about the animals and the food (6:21) was the lack of information. And anytime I get offended or someone barks at me. You know those things people do that resemble an animal’s character, like a snake. I think to myself "there's animals in the ark".
Think about Noah for a few moments here. I know a few common animals and I'd find it hard to catch them even with cages and tranquilizers. But because of the internet I see so many I never knew even existed. Noah didn't have all the technology of today. How did he catch a bear and bring it to the Ark without killing it or being killed? And not just one. Where would he keep them? How did he know that he had every kind the Lord commanded him to get? How long did it take to gather the animals?
Then you see all these beautiful pictures of animals of every kind going two by two into the ark in an orderly fashion. Noah waving his hand and happy, if he's painted in.
Really. Think about it. You may be thankful you're going to live, but haven't you been sad over someone who didn't. Even without knowing them. You really think Noah was happy that everyone around him, those that he did business with, worked with etc was going to die in just a few days.
I personally don't think Noah and his family could have done the gathering of animals. Not only because of the limits of mankind, but because the word says that the Spirit draws them (John 6:44). You're Pastor isn't the one who is supposed to be out there bringing in the animals, He's supposed to feed the flock. God uses many people to draw people to Him. My Pastor started a church in his living room and through witnessing, search for truth classes, preaching and labor, the Ark is what it is today 40 plus years later. My Pastor still witnesses to people don't get me wrong. My point is God calls them, not the Pastor. The people in the Ark are chosen by God. Didn't matter if it's an animal you don't like, snakes, lice, flies, pigs, spiders.. every creeping thing.... you'll find it in the church and guess who has to handle it the most, Noah and his family. Not that animals don't get bothered by other animals, they do. Pastors have to turn it over to the God who called him and them into this straight way.
Not looking at just the pressures and things Pastors go through, they also get to see God move in ways that other don't. Noah might have been in total fascination about what that day was like. Think about the site, there you are with this huge (3 football fields long I think) boat finally done after years of labor and now all these animals are coming out of no where. At first a few here and there, like a small spring. then more and more and flowing into the boat they go. If those on the outside saw this they might have gotten in. Then again people hear and see about the miracles God does in our church today and still haven't come through the doors.
Now one more thing before I close this; details. God gives somethings very specific instructions while leaving other things up to Noah. Like the food amounts. God told Noah to gather food for his family and to feed the animals. He had to gather a lot of food, for family, animals and then planting for future crops. Let me tell you something, an animal that eats meat, eats meat. Unclean animals produce at a much faster rate than clean animals. A liter of rabbits verse a fawn. However rabbits eat veggies, while tigers eat rabbits. God only told him that it was going to rain for forty days and nights. He didn't tell him that he would be in the boat for any given time, like a year or so. It took an hundred and fifty days after God stopped the rain for the earth to dry up. Then the vegetation had to start growing enough for the dove to bring back an olive branch and then after some more time God said come out. Do you think Noah had stored enough food or was there some bread being multiplied?
Noah went in with the number of animals God called to save and when the time of times was ended and then everyone went out of the ark, there was more than what went in because God also gives the increase.
I end with this.. 22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he.
As I compare the calling of Noah, I see the calling of my Pastor. And just like that final statement was made, Thus did my Pastor. Looking forward to the day when God opens the door to a whole new world and says "come out, thou good and faithful servant".
