The Armour of God

[Eph 6:11 KJV Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.]

·         loins girt about with truth
·         breastplate of righteousness
·         feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace
·         shield of faith
·         helmet of salvation
·         sword of the Spirit
·         Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit
·         mystery of the gospel
·         ambassador in bonds

I know when you see pictures of a person wearing the armour, you see the loins girt, breastplate, feet shod, shield, helmet and sword; but I’m taking to the end of the verse and saying without prayer, understanding the gospel and knowing the bonds called by holiness, you’re not going to win this fight.
A person preparing for battle learns how to use the tools given them, but they also must obtain the strength and understanding of how to use the tools. This is a war on your soul. Your relationship with Jesus matters. He isn’t going to marry you if you don’t care enough about Him to fight against the lies of this world and for the Truth of Him.

[2Co 10:2-6 KJV But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh. For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.]

Knowing that "Satan" is just a describing word or title (like jerk, thief; you can steal one thing or a thousand things and you still fall under a thief title).  The bible defines Satan as any thought, emotion, action, word or intent against the knowledge of God (which is Truth). [2Co 2:11 KJV 11 Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.] [1Jo 2:16 KJV For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.] ALL, powerful little word; means there is nothing outside of it. If there was a fable pitch fork holding, angel that has all the powers of God to influence you and everyone else on the planet, that would make him a lesser god (yet God doesn’t knows of no other God’s) [Isa 44:8 KJV Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.] [Mar 7:15 KJV There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.] Anyway, this is about the armour, if you want to know about fairy tale devil read the blogs on the evil in this world.

[Rom 1:20-25 KJV For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.]
Rom 1:20 explains that the invisible things are understood by the natural things. The scriptures following explain how how they once knew God, the truth, but didn't keep their armor in tact or on. They lost the battle. Your relationship with Jesus and your eternal salvation is at stake, check and put on the whole armour of God daily.

  1.       Loins girt about with truth: loins are your reproductive parts. You have the ability to produce thousands of thoughts in minutes. When you dwell on these thoughts without lining them up to the word for truth or not, you're reproducing evil. When you are checking them for truth and rejecting or casting out, you have your loins girt about with truth. The only way to have this is by putting on the mind of Christ; which is the word of God. If you are not reading, studying and faithful to hear a preacher of Truth, you do not have Truth to girt your mind with.
  2.        Breastplate of righteousness: The breastplate or Ephod was a garment of praise in holiness. It’s guarding your heart from the things without. Holiness is a necessary must for living for God. The breastplate protects your heart, this is from the things without. Holiness not only goes into your dress, but your actions and what you allow in. If you don’t have it on, you’ll allow anything to come in and “kill” your heart.
  3.       Feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace: Are you wearing your own decisions or are you wearing the gospel of peace? What? When you take off your shoes because you’ve stepped onto holy ground, you’ve told the Lord “lead me and I will follow”. The peace comes from knowing you’re being lead of God. You’re not making your plans, you’re asking God for His plans for your daily walk and life.
  4.       Shield of faith: “wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” Fiery darts of the wicked, anyone speaking against the truth, persecuting your walk and life. When you have the faith once delivered unto the Saints, when someone or group of people come against you, you have the understanding to block it from taking you down. You can block their words and what they are “screaming” at you.
  5.       Helmet of salvation: Is Christ your head or are you leading your life? Salvation is in Christ. Is the blood applied to your life? Are you walking in the Spirit? Are your decisions coming from Christ or are you taking your helmet off. God has a divine order, God, Christ (anointed ministry), the man, the women and then the children. When you are walking in obedience and protecting your ministry & the Truth preached, your helmet of salvation in on. When you speak; even an opinion, against those in authority in your church; you have no put a hole in your helmet. That hole can cost you your salvation.
  6.      Sword of the Spirit: the word of God. Keep it sharp and ready to be used. If you are not sharpening it up, a dull sword will not cut. And the word goes down to the very marrow of the bones. The word of God is a two edged sword, not a knife. One side cuts and the other heals. The word will circumcise the heart and keep you in covenant with God. It is also to use to defend against the elements (principalities, powers and rulers of darkness), without it you will lose your battle and soul. Light is truth, darkness is lie. Those who do not know the truth are rulers and being ruled by darkness, lies. The sword will cut through the lies and shine light on it.
  7.       Praying always: prayer and supplication in the Spirit. You need the Holy Ghost. Prayer is a two way conversation and supplication is necessary with God. God, is who you are talking to. Without prayer you will die; spiritually and naturally. He changes you and uses you to change with world. But try finding a place without asking for directions or even the name of the place you’re looking for… that is a life without prayer in the Holy Ghost. How can you watch without prayer? You’re not sober to watch, but drunk on the things of this world.
  8.       Mystery of the gospel: Acts 2:38 is just the door. If you don’t know the rest of the gospel, you don’t understand how to stand in the evil day. Death to the old man (which is the serpent, carnal nature), baptism or daily washing and cleansing yourself with the water of the word and resurrection or walking in the life of the Spirit of Truth and liberty of the law of Christ. Apostolic doctrine revealing the old in the light of truth. Understanding the types and shadows, so you can do all the above. Mystery of the gospel.
  9.      Ambassador in bonds: Oh the world thinks we are being deprived of things because we do not go or do the things this flesh desires. We have standards and holiness. Being a walking and living epistle for Christ. Who is holy and righteousness. No, we proclaim the liberty of bonds of Christ, protection from the chains of darkness Truth set us free from. I don’t like the pit of hell. I love the freedom from sin and it’s payment. I speak boldly of the privilege of restraints in Christ, because freedom comes within the perfect law of liberty.

[Eph 6:10-20 KJV Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.]

Put on the whole armour of God and walk victorious in this life and rejoice in the life to come.

If thou knewest the gift of God

When Jesus was talking to the Samaritan women at the well He made a statement, “If thou knewest the gift of God”.

[Jhn 4:10 KJV Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

Just this story alone tells you how powerful and how to get, the gift of God. I’m going to break up the verses with some points.

Jhn 4:1-43 KJV 1 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John, 2 (Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,) 3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee. 4 And he must needs go through Samaria.

The gift of God will reach down to people where they are at.

5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. 6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. 7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. 8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)

This is a One on one conversation.

9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.

God will come in the least expected way. His ways and thoughts are higher than ours.

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. 11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?

When you have a preconceived idea of where deliverance is coming, you question faith, instead of having faith in the answer.

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?

Then you question the source. It's hard to see God when darkness is all around. But He is still sending people.

13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. 15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.

When faith is ready, it’s asks for the gift of God. But…there’s always a but.

16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither. 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband: 18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
Truth is going to come forth. Things you need to admit guilt to and how you answer them, determines the delivery of the gift.

19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. 25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. 26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

Her answers told Him that she acknowledged His knowledge of her but still without the full assurance of who He was. Did He hear rumors of her??? But it wasn’t a disrespectful or blunt rebellion of being told of the things she is guilty of; but questioning of Who He was. To which He then answered very plainly.

Did you miss the gift of God? In the Old Testament Jesus had to use natural things to explain the spiritual things. The Holy Ghost is the gift of God. When you receive it, you understand plainly Who God is.

27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her? 28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, 29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?

Seemingly interruptions can be great blessings. When things to go exactly like we plan, doesn’t mean they are not in the plans. It means “wait” on Jesus. She became a servant, a waiter and told all.

30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him. 31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. 32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. 33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat? 34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work. 35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. 36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. 37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth. 38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.

When you receive the Holy Ghost, you see the harvest and you want all to come and see what you now have. That’s why new converts tend to bring in more new converts. They just received the gift of God. (going back to the natural, when you first get a gift you are excited and tell / show people; after a while the newness wears off and it’s a once and a while “oh so and so gave me this”.) Time to get back to your first love and newness of receiving the gift that many never get past the Truth to receive.

39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did. 40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days. 41 And many more believed because of his own word; 42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world. 43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

When it comes to the gift of God, you have to believe on Him for yourself, not just off someone else’s word. You will either, not get the gift and walk away or you’ll think it’s something it’s not.

[Act 8:20 KJV But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.]

The Holy Ghost wasn’t just given to the Apostles, but started to be poured out on the day of Pentecost. 120 in the upper-room (including Mary the mother of Jesus) were filled with the Holy Ghost, then 3000 people that received the word. All of which spoke in tongues like the Apostles did, signifying the “wind blowing” that Jesus referred to in John 3 when He told Nicodemus that’s how all who are born again will happen. When you get it, it’ll change your world and you’ll be a testimony of living water.

[Rom 6:23 KJV 23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.]
Without the gift of God, you don’t have eternal life.
[Eph 2:8 KJV 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:]
When you receive the Holy Ghost, God’s grace is now on your life. This Samaritan women had to reach out in faith according to what Jesus was saying to her and draw from Him. As an Old Testament story, it all reflects on what is still needed today to receive the gift of God, the Holy Ghost. OT story… Yes, New Testament writer, Old Testament book.

If thou knewest the gift of God was the Holy Ghost that is going to be poured out to all who will come and draw from Me. It’s life changing and gives you a testimony to share with others that they too may come to the well. If you’ve had for a while, stir it up and be renewed with that the living water of God.

[2Ti 1:6 KJV Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.]

Responsibility of those that are numbered

The children of Israel were ordered to be numbered; they were to give an offering for
The atonement of their souls. If they did not offer this half shekel for the service of the tabernacle, God considered them worthy of incurring a plague.

  • This offering and support of the tabernacle of the congregation was to be considered by God as a memorial of the children of Israel before the Lord.
  • A memorial for the children of Israel before the Lord: who remembers the support of his people toward God and the priesthood.
  • The shekel was 11.4 oz in weight. A half shekel would have then been: 5.7 oz.

Ex 30:12-16
12 when thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the Lord, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them.
13 this they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering of the Lord.
14 every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the Lord.
15 the rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the Lord, to make an atonement for your souls.
16 and thou shalt take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before the Lord, to make an atonement for your souls.

This numbering was an abomination to Joab: Why? Because he did not want the wrath of God on those who would not offer their offering of atonement for the soul.

  • He felt like there was enough money already to build the temple.
  • But David was provoked by the number in Israel who refused to give
  • David knew this commandment (in Ex 30:12-16) the half shekel is required of all those who were numbered in Israel.
  • Joab’s view: are they not all thy servants? David, why cause the trespass to come upon them not offering the atonement for themselves to God for the building of the temple.
  • David had taken the spoil from the victories over his enemies and had provided nearly all that was needed for the building of the temple.
Now, was God in error to smite those who refused to offer a small half shekel for their soul and the building of the temple: No! A thousand times no! The principal of giving is Gods and the offering withheld reflected a flaw in David’s followers.

1 Chron 21:1-8
1 and satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number Israel.
2 and David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, go, number Israel from Beer-Sheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that I may know it.
3 and Joab answered, the Lord make his people an hundred times so many more as they be: but, my Lord the king, are they not all my Lord's servants? Why then doth my Lord require this thing? Why will he be a cause of trespass to Israel?
4 nevertheless the king's word prevailed against Joab. Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to Jerusalem.
5 and Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men that drew sword.
6 but Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the king's word was abominable to Joab.
7 and God was displeased with this thing; therefore he smote Israel.
8 and David said unto God, I have sinned greatly, because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.

Seven thousand who did not give and could have given, because the amount was so minimal.

  • This implicates basic service to the Lord
  • An offering from each individual in support of the work of God
  • They were there, but they refused to participate in the minimal offering.
    • A. For whatever reason it may have been.
    • B. It was not a good enough reason not to give an offering for ones own soul.
1 Chron 21:12-14
12 either three years' famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the Lord, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the Lord destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel. Now therefore advise thyself what word I shall bring again to him that sent me.
13 and David said unto gad, I am in a great strait: let me fall now into the hand of the Lord; for very great are his mercies: but let me not fall into the hand of man.
14 so the Lord sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.

David realizing what he had done was now desirous to retract his command, Why? Joab was right. David must have been aggravated with those who were willing to be his servants, but not in subjection to God with their offering.

God chose a threshing place to end the pestilence. The place where chaff is separated from the good grain. The answer to this whole dilemma is having the evil threshed away, keeping the good.

  • So those notions we get, those lapses in awareness, those moments when we do not want to offer ourselves in service that costs us anything.
  • David makes this principal very plain: in that he makes this statement to Ornah after he was instructed to offer God a sacrifice at this threshing place.

2 Sam 24:16
16 and when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the Lord repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, it is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the Lord was by the threshing place of Araunah the Jebusite.
This is the sin of David: he allowed people to serve with him at no cost.
David considered buying threshing place an absolute. Shall I offer as some of the people were doing; a sacrifice which has cost me nothing? No! I will purchase the threshing floor and the oxen.  David offered and the Lord was entreated by the offering and the sacrifice.

Those that perished were under David, in Gods service, yet did not make the offering for the soul as required if they were numbered. David knew this and so did Joab.

2 Sam 24:22-25
22 and Araunah said unto David, let my Lord the king take and offer up what seemeth good unto him: behold, here be oxen for burnt sacrifice, and threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.
23 all these things did Araunah, as a king, give unto the king. And Araunah said unto the king, the Lord thy God accept thee.
24 and the king said unto Araunah, nay; but I will surely buy it of thee at a price: neither will I offer burnt offerings unto the Lord my God of that which doth cost me nothing. So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
25 and David built there an altar unto the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. So the Lord was entreated for the land, and the plague was stayed from Israel.

Ephron offered Abraham the field of Macpelah for nothing. If thou wilt give it: the land is worth 400 shekels. Abraham weighed to him 400 shekels of silver...
Abraham would not bury his dead there until he knew the field was indisputably his own. A proof that he had purchased the field to bury his dead. This is the picture of the gospel message and the land it offers.
If the purchasing of the gospel is not purchased by our own giving of ourselves, a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God which is our reasonable service; then the land really does not belong to us to bury our dead (old man) here.

Gen 23:11-18
11 Nay, my Lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead.
12 and Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land.
13 and he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, but if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.
14 and Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him,
15 my Lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? Bury therefore thy dead.
16 and Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.
17 and the field of Ephron, which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders round about, were made sure
18 unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.

Is this land worth the offering of yourself as a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God? Which is your reasonable service; yes and more.

Rom 12:1-16
1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 and be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
3 for I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
4 for as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
6 having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;
7 or ministry, let us wait on our ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;
8 or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, let him do it with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that sheweth mercy, with cheerfulness.
9 let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
10 be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;
11 not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;
12 rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;
13 distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality.
14 bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
15 rejoice with them that do rejoice, and weep with them that weep.
16 be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Business...Everything on schedule as normal....Is that your focus while it's *Don’t give one more minute than is necessary for the work of the church*

Anything for fun, pleasure, but drudgery when it comes to work for the house of God. The attitude "let someone else do the menial tasks, my time is more important." It's sort of like not giving time to prayer, because your time is more important. This is the spirit those who died in Israel.

  1. They were serving the Lord, but refuse to offer an half shekel when they were numbered.
  2. They wanted to be numbered, but not on the cleaning list.
  3. They wanted to be part of the church, but not if it was not in a higher position.
  4. They were in the service of God under David: but refused to offer what God commanded in order to be numbered among the people.
The cleaning list... seemingly menial positions; what are you talking about... the same spirit that Israel had.

Those in the service of the Lord reap greater benefits than serving self..some of the benefits:
  • The courts of justice, that help me to be upright and walk accepted before the Lord
  • The only safe place our young can be raised.......without being destroyed......spiritually..
  • Those who continue in the house shall all be given a right to praise and bless the Lord turning impossible situations into great possibilities.
  • The glory of this house: one day in the courts of the Lord is worth a thousand in the tents of wickedness.
  • To be a doorkeeper in Gods house is better than any job you have
  • God is a shield, gives grace or favor, no good thing will be withheld from him that walketh uprightly
Ps 84:1-12
1 how amiable are thy tabernacles, o Lord of hosts!
2 my soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the Lord: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.
3 yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, o Lord of hosts, my king, and my God.
4 blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.
5 blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.
6 who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.
7 they go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.
8 o Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, o God of Jacob. Selah.
9 behold, o God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.
10 for a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11 for the Lord God is a sun and shield: the Lord will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
12 o Lord of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.

Oblation: an offering to God
  • That which we have been blessed to get: we give to God in offering.
I am just saved: "casting your cares upon him; how do you do that"? By getting involved with what is going on to keep the house of God running and in repair.

So you have to actually dress differently than casual? This is you presenting yourself to the house of God (the courts of the King) and as saints to the world.

Num 31:50 we have therefore brought an oblation for the Lord, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the Lord.

The Psalm of David below concerning the attitude about Gods service and service to self.
Ye are bought with a price and ye are not your own

  • If I am my own: I will not see light in the morning
  • If I give a ransom for my soul, God will honor me as being upright and offering to him my body as a living sacrifice holy and acceptable unto God which is my reasonable service.

Ps 49:1-20
1 hear this, all ye people; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world:
2 both low and high, rich and poor, together.
3 my mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding.
4 I will incline mine ear to a parable: I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
5 wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my heels shall compass me about?
6 they that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches;
7 none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him:
8 (for the redemption of their soul is precious, and it ceaseth for ever:)
9 that he should still live for ever, and not see corruption.
10 for he seeth that wise men die, likewise the fool and the brutish person perish, and leave their wealth to others.
11 their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
12 nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
13 this their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
14 like sheep they are laid in the grave; death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
15 but God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah.
16 be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
17 for when he dieth he shall carry nothing away: his glory shall not descend after him.
18 though while he lived he blessed his soul: and men will praise thee, when thou doest well to thyself.
19 he shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see light.
20 man that is in honour, and understandeth not, is like the beasts that perish.

Rom 12: 4 for as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
A. I was the fastest and the best worker among those I worked with, but when it came time to clean up I was not exempt.
B. I was expected to clean up the mess we made even though I had done more work for the same pay as my other workers. (a penny for the day)

29 let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

30 and grieve not the holy spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Prov 6:6-12
6 go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:
7 which having no guide, overseer, or ruler,
8 provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.
9 how long wilt thou sleep, o sluggard? When wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?
10 yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
11 so shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
12 a naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth.
Diligence in service

Whatever it may be that you do, don’t be caught in a non concerned attitude.

Mark 13:34-37
34 for the son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
35 watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:
36 lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping.
37 and what I say unto you I say unto all, watch.

Whatever your business is, it should be done as part of your being numbered among the saints
1. No jealousies over who has the better or easier jobs.
2. The least among us should be considered as the great as the greatest if they do their business given.
3. You may have multiply portions of business in the church, one cannot be abandoned for the other, unless it overlaps in time.

The body is not a big nose!
The body is not a big eye!
It is a whole body with diversity of members
1. If all were the same member: were would there be a body
2. Wherever God has set you in the body: you should be satisfied to do the work required of you in that capacity: it is the half shekel of the sanctuary which makes you numbered with the whole body.

1 Cor 12:14-31
14 for the body is not one member, but many.
15 if the foot shall say, because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
16 and if the ear shall say, because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?
17 if the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?
18 but now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
19 and if they were all one member, where were the body?
20 but now are they many members, yet but one body.
21 and the eye cannot say unto the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you.
22 nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary:
23 and those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
24 for our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked:
25 that there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another.
26 and whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it.
27 now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.
28 and God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.
29 are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?
30 have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?
31 but covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.

Helps is part of the body and a necessary part.
Those who aid and assist in things that help the body of Christ to function.
1. To be in helps is to offer the half shekel of the shekel of the sanctuary, an offering for your own soul that ye are numbered with the body of Christ.

We have those over certain things because of their desire to serve. They are the governments put in place by the pastor of the church. These governments are extended portions of authority to govern helps and things of necessity to keep the church functioning and producing cleanliness. The church is not just a place to come and leave without becoming involved in the business of the church, to offer the half shekel for an offering for the soul.
1. If you do not want to be part of anything.
2. If you want to be exempt from any service
3. If you do not want to be counted in the body and numbered with the saints.
It is your prerogative.

1. We are obligated to present the church to the world as clean and diligent.
2. This is our half shekel.
3. It is a ransom for the soul: it actually relays the information to God that you are happy for what God has done by placing you in the body.
Don’t connive
Don’t undermine
Don’t slander
Don’t complain
If you are not willing to slay these things, you do not have an offering to God for a ransom to be numbered with the saints of God. This does not mean you must be quiet: it means you must refrain from speaking anything discouraging and demeaning about the work of God.
An example is that you get out of the choir because you are better than that. No you have lost sight of the half shekel to be numbered.

1 Thess 4:11 and that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

Not willing to work along with us? Not willing to support along with everyone? Why? Are you privileged above everyone to serve yourself only?
Those who are working around the church and doing what is necessary to keep it clean and presentable are offering the half shekel required of those who will be numbered and not plagued.......

2 Thess 3:6-10
6 now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye withdraw yourselves from every brother that walketh disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
7 for yourselves know how ye ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
8 neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
9 not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
10 for even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

The hard truth about marriage

1. There is nothing that threatens the security of a wife than the thought of another woman competing for the attention and affection of her husband. Nothing is more painful. Nothing is more disrespecting. Nothing is more insulting. Nothing is more belittling and degrading.
2. Marriage flourishes when the couple works together as a team; when both husband and wife decide that winning together is more important than keeping score.
Good marriages don't just happen. They are a product of hard work.
3. Your children are watching you and forming lasting opinions on love, commitment, and marriage based on what they see in you. Give them hope. Make them look forward to marriage.
4. Husbands: The reason why other women look attractive is because someone is taking good care of them. Grass is always green where it is watered. Instead of drooling over the green grass on the other side of the fence, work on yours and water it regularly. Any man can admire a beautiful woman, but it takes a true gentleman to make a woman admirable and beautiful.
5. When a husband puts his wife first above everyone and everything except God, it gives his wife the sense of security and honor that every wife hungers for.
6. A successful marriage doesn't require a big house, a prefect spouse, a million dollars or an expensive car. You can have all the above and still have a miserable marriage. A successful marriage requires honesty, undying commitment and selfless love and Jesus at the center of it all.
7. Pray for your spouse every day; in the morning, in the afternoon and at evening. Don’t wait until there is a problem. Don’t wait until there is an affair. Don’t wait until something bad happens. Don’t wait until your spouse is tempted. Shield your spouse with prayer and cover your marriage with the fence of prayer.
8. The people you surround yourself with have a lot of influence on your marriage. Friends can build or break your marriage; choose them wisely.
9. One spouse cannot build a marriage alone when the other spouse is committed to destroying it. Marriage works when both husband and wife work together as a team to build their marriage.
10. Don't take your spouse for granted. Don't take advantage of your spouse's meekness and goodness. Don't mistake your spouse's loyalty for desperation. Don't misuse or abuse your spouse's trust. You may end up regretting after losing someone that meant so much to you.
11. Beware of marital advice you get from people. Most of it is theoretical and not derived from real life experiences. If you really need Godly advice, seek it from God-fearing, impartial and prayerful mature couples whose resolve has been tested by time and shaped by trials.
12. Dear wife, Don't underestimate the power of the tongue on your marriage. The tongue has the power to crush your marriage or build it up. Don't let the Devil use your tongue to kill your spouse's image, self-confidence and aspirations. Let God use your tongue to build up your marriage and bless and praise your spouse

A Help Meet in Christ

[1Co 12:27-30 KJV Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?]

I looked up the word “helps” because I really feel like this is and has been my calling. It’s not to a title, position or popular; but necessary. As this scripture is the only place this word is used, I decided to read above and below it to put it into perspective.

All are the body of Christ, but members in (in part, partly, in a measure, to some degree, as respects a part, severally, individually)

Paul calls out the more noticeable and then the not so noticeable offices or gifts. Apostles, prophets and teachers, very noticeable, in the light and high demand / highly desired positions. They receive both the most glory and the most grief. Then the next thing are gifts that also get a lot of attention, miracles and healings. If God uses you in these two desired (and nothing wrong to desire them) gifts, you will get noticed, be in the light and likewise received glory and grief. Just think about how people get mad at the person being used when what they desire doesn’t happen. Jesus Himself would say to them “be it unto thee according to your faith”. God chooses people according to His reasons and He does or doesn’t do the miracles through them according to His reasons.

Then notice how it skips over helps and governments to the diversities of tongues (which this is the gift of tongues and interpretation, or else he would not have stated “do all speak with tongues? do all interpret”). Each of the positions or gifts have limits, except helps and governments. The word governments here means directors. Directors have limits, no not like the others. One person can direct many areas or many areas can have director(s) over them. The more areas that need directors the more it expands. But you can only have one Pastor. You can only have so many preachers / teachers. Not everyone can handle being used in the different gifts available, it would spiritually kill them.
But everyone can help. Everyone can do something to help at one point or another. There isn’t one person who is exempt from this position.

So how can I feel that being a help is my calling when everyone is also called to it. Well I’ve been where others won’t go, when needed.  Simply put, not everyone does it, even though all are called to it. The whole world is called to repentance, but not everyone comes to repentance. It’s a necessity and even with its lack of “title”, it’s vital to the body. The church needs its helps. After all Christ is coming back for His Help-meet.

A prisoner of Jesus Christ

As a follower of Christ rules are to be received with open arms and willing hunger. Yes, hunger.
[Rom 1:20 KJV For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:]
In Romans 1:20 we read that the invisible is understood by the visible. By taking natural everyday “things” you can understand God in greater measure.

[Zec 9:12 KJV Turn you to the strong hold, ye prisoners of hope: even to day do I declare that I will render double unto thee; ][Phm 1:1 KJV Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy our brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,]

A Prisoner
1. a person who is confined in prison or kept in custody, especially as the result of legal process.
2. prisoner of war.
3. a person or thing that is deprived of liberty or kept in restraint.
Prisoners of hope and of Jesus Christ, OT and NT declarations of being a prisoner unto God.
Although our world states that a prisoner is a bad thing, when you look at it from the point of a criminal. Let’s look at water; wide open and without restraints, it’s very clam and pliable. But put water through a hose, channel or even constricted by wind and you have power. Guided power that can be used for good or bad. This may seem like elementary and everyone knows it; but when did you last apply it to beliefs? Or even the way you live life. We hear people shouting freedom, but what do they want to be “free” from? Is freedom doing whatever one desires without restriction? Or is freedom only found within constraints, as a prisoner?
What a question right? But think of driving, if there were no stop lights, what would happen? No double lines, traffic signs or on/off ramps. If everyone wants to freely drive where they want, at whatever speed they deemed reasonable and without any “rules” of driving to be implied; would it not become unsafe to not only get in a car, but to walk anywhere cars are moving. Think of all the accidents that happen within the rules. And also think of the law enforcement officers, someone is needed to maintain the rules. Is there not more freedom within the constraints of rules, then without rules?
When you make yourself bound to the laws of the land, everyone is safe to live freely within the laws. Here you are a prisoner (bound by law), yet with more freedom. Likewise when you’re living in Jesus Christ, you are under the laws of the kingdom of heaven. The law of liberty is one that reaches to the heart, not just the action. If you stop hate in your heart, you will not have murder, the action. It's a constraint that in-powers those who both submit and are in authority.
[Heb 13:17 KJV Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.]

Rom 1:20 example, a team that has a leader (captain) and all submitted under that leader, makes a powerful team. An army has ranks. Work places have management. Even in music you see that you have singers, musicians, backup singers or choirs and a director, or ranks. Someone makes the decisions and those under them submit to it. On and on you see that submission is powerful.

[Jhn 14:15 KJV If ye love me, keep my commandments.]

[1Jo 2:3-4 KJV And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.]
When you find out the truth about Jesus and His kingdom, the "rules" have to follow. A land without authority is chaos. God is not the author of confusion. He makes His commandments very clear and easy to find, when you seek Him for them. His word tells us that love is going to a cross. Love is setting up boundaries, love is discipline, love never fails, and many more things. When you love a child you don’t let them throw a temper tantrum and give them what they wanted. You correct that behavior so they become a better person, more equipped to handle things in life. Same thing God does, He uses preachers to tell us our sin, what the rules or commandments are and makes us accountable to them; because He loves us. Understanding comes when you obey them. Understanding can also come from either watching those that don’t, or disobeying them yourself. But the fact remains that God created the world and obeying His commandments cause blessings, while disobeying causes curses. Gravity is one of those laws. Just like give and it shall be given. You use gravity every day, now try the law of giving.

It is a great thing to be a Prisoner of Hope. Bound in Christ means liberty from sin. As you mature in Christ you see that the “rules” protected you when you didn’t know you needed it. The preacher telling you to get the makeup off, is protection? Yes, because it’s not only unhealthy for you physically but the spirit that comes with it is dangerous to your soul. Besides, who told you makeup was good? It wasn’t God. One of the other things that happens when you become a prisoner is that you find out that the constraints in God loose you from the bondages of this world. The things that are asked to be given up, like makeup, become junk or as Paul put it “dung” that he was glad to get rid of. Freedom from the noise of this world, pressures to become like everyone else’s “be your own self”. Living for God is truly the best place to live. Surrounded by His love and walking free in this world now and eternal life to come. Yes I have hard times, usually when I’m looking at this kingdom and not His. Thankful when I get my eyes on Him and I’m thankful to not only be a fellow prisoner of Christ, but a child of the King of kings and Lord of lords.

The battle of legalism

I want to encourage someone and strengthen your understanding on the battle of legalism.

I’m in a few groups on fb and a post about legalism came up. They used tithing 10% as being legalistic. As an example they stated that if a person could only afford 5% and gave that, it would be legalistic to require 10%. This person had posted a link to a blog describing matters of the law and legalism.
The blog states that tithing was before the law and that it became a part of the law to sustain the OT priests, Levites. Jesus took away the priesthood, therefore taking away the need to tithe. That churches are extorting 10% from people for profit and it’s a sin. This is so sad and fully lacks understanding of the Word of God. The priesthood represents the ministry, which today is still very much ordained by God in the NT church.
noun 1. strict adherence, or the principle of strict adherence, to law or prescription, especially to the letter rather than the spirit.
Theology. 2. the doctrine that salvation is gained through good works. The judging of conduct in terms of adherence to precise laws.
3. (initial capital letter) (in Chinese philosophy) the principles and practices of a school of political theorists advocating strict legal control over all activities, a system of rewards and punishments uniform for all classes, and an absolute monarchy.

Legalism is a word used to distort the government of God. The word of God establishes a law for His people, from tithing, offering, life styles, dress and conduct etc. When a church preaches this, those that oppose authority in the church scream legalism, never using the word of God to back up their screams. God said the people would rob Him in tithes and offerings ([Mal 3:8 KJV Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings.] The same goes for holiness, God gave a Shepard the authority to set up the standards of his flock. But without holiness no man shall see God. The word of God gives guidelines, from hair, to modest apparel, deacon requirements etc, it's all in the word. When a preacher stands up and states that a women’s hair is to be uncut it's backed by the word of God (1 Cor 11), This is not legalism it's coming under the authority of God's governmental rule of the kingdom of heaven (Jerusalem, the church).
The tenth (or tithing 10%) is in the word. The world wants to keep God as an all loving God that by grace they can love Him any way they want (no rules) and He'll accept that. That my friend is the enemy of the soul, love has rules and rules have consequences. Wither you believe in them or not.

There is not a relationship on earth (or between earth and heaven) that doesn’t have rules. Everything I’m stating can be searched and found in the word, which is the authority, not me. The whole entire Old Testament shows how God gave His people the “rules” or law. When they obeyed it, they were blessed. When they disobeyed it, they were cursed. God is the same yesterday, today and forever, He doesn’t change. And the New Testament is revealing the OT, not removing it. The abominations in the OT are still a hatred to God and still bring a curse (or harvest as an apple seed produces an apple tree).
Pork in the OT is an unclean animal, in the NT it’s still unclean. The only difference is that you won’t go to hell by touching or eating pork today, but it’s still unclean in that it’s very unhealthy. That is using the law lawfully. Plus as Holy Ghost filled people, we are supposed to see the spiritual image that the shadow “pork” represents. That’s another discussion.

Jesus said that He did not come to do away with the law but to fulfill the law. And to bring the perfect law of liberty, which as the example He gave in Matt 5 the OT law said the action of adultery, but the NT perfect law took it to the heart and it’s now looketh upon her with lust in your heart. Legalism then would state that if a preacher preaches against undressing a women with your eyes, he is wrong and taking it too far. Or perhaps for “you” (whoever you is), that is okay, but to have them let’s say no jewelry or anything, including watches, that looks liked jewelry. Well now legalism can rear its ugly head and stomp right out of the church and go looking for a not so “legal” church.

I hope you see the enemy’s uses in the word legalism. By the way, I’m not stating that a church should not be checked, but it should only be check by the word of God and not by our feelings or opinions. If the word supports it, then it’s from God and not man. It’s not legalism, its salvation.

Last week I was approached by a person who left their church because of the hurtful legalistic demands, it was an apostolic church. She didn’t have to go into detail, but what she proclaim was legalism over and over again. God has laws and a church is not legalistic because it lets you know that you're behavior, dress or attitude isn't acceptable by the church or God.
The law of gravity exists and God created it when He spoke the world into existence. Now you can jump off of cliffs if you’d like to claim God doesn’t recognize His laws, but I’ll keep my feet planted on the solid rock thank you. You can also stomp out of church calling them hurtful because they tell you it exists too. That is not going to change that it exists. The Lord spoke the entire universe into perfect law and order. From gravity to giving, all laws were spoken in the beginning. His word is full of commandments that follow that same law and order; which result in blessings, production, creation and relationship with Him. When you are disobedient to them, you are jumping off the cliff. The laws of God are not something foolish. They are not bad and authority is a blessing. Wisdom hath killed her beasts. Don’t let the beast called legalism bite you!!!

Repentance kills offences

The ministry of John was much bigger than we can imagine: all Jerusalem and Judea went out to hear the message of John the Baptist. His message resonated across the country and his followers received the word “if you want to receive the full blessings from heaven, turn you from your sins and iniquities.”
1. There is one coming after me: if you receive me you will hear him
2. If you do not receive me: you will not hear him.
3. Repentance is an absolute necessity in hearing the words of the messiah.

Matt 3:1-5
1 In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, 2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. 3 For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.4 And the same John had his raiment of camel's hair, and a leathern girdle about his loins; and his meat was locusts and wild honey.5 Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan,
God can take the stones of repentance and raise up children to Abraham. If the Jews not said that John had a devil, they would not have said Jesus was a glutton and a wine bibber.
1. John was not received therefore Jesus was not received.
2. It was John who warned that the axe would be laid to the root of the trees of Moses law.

Luke 3:4-18
4 As it is written in the book of the words of Esaias the prophet, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. 5 Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low; and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways shall be made smooth; 6 And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. 7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham. 9 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then? 11 He answereth and saith unto them, He that hath two coats, let him impart to him that hath none; and he that hath meat, let him do likewise.12 Then came also publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do?13 And he said unto them, Exact no more than that which is appointed you. 14 And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages….

They that had prepared to receive him through repentance.
Repentance: the complete abandonment of previous persuasions...
1. How great John must have been to create an such an expectation
2. Repentance from all other ideas, books, dominions, previous learning along with self-thought
3. The chaff are the un-repented: he will burn with fire unquenchable.
4. Those who refuse to turn at the hearing of the word of God will suffer for it.
5. The way of a transgressor is hard.....

15 And as the people were in expectation, and all men mused in their hearts of John, whether he were the Christ, or not; 16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: 17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable. 18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.

This is the reason why many do not continue because they were not founded upon this teaching of having to become a stone of repentance.
1. To never be offended at the words of Jesus
2. A repentance: complete abandonment of previous persuasions.....

The stones of repentance

When people of the house become plagued: they must repent and become a new stone. if the stones of repentance is not genuine: the plague will appear again...
1. Then the house must be torn down with the stones.....
2. John said about those who had repented and had been baptized unto repentance: that God could use these stones and make them children of Abraham.
3. without the baptism of repentance: there can be no habitation of God in that house.

Lev 14:40-46
40 Then the priest shall command that they take away the stones in which the plague is, and they shall cast them into an unclean place without the city: 41 And he shall cause the house to be scraped within round about, and they shall pour out the dust that they scrape off without the city into an unclean place: 42 And they shall take other stones, and put them in the place of those stones; and he shall take other morter, and shall plaister the house. 43 And if the plague come again, and break out in the house, after that he hath taken away the stones, and after he hath scraped the house, and after it is plaistered; 44 Then the priest shall come and look, and, behold, if the plague be spread in the house, it is a fretting leprosy in the house: it is unclean. 45 And he shall break down the house, the stones of it, and the timber thereof, and all the morter of the house; and he shall carry them forth out of the city into an unclean place.

Those who came out from John the Baptist’s ministry
Andrew and Simon peter whom he called Cephas: a stone.......
Peter a repentance stone: the complete abandonment of previous persuasion
Peter was one of the stones of repentance.....”Get thee behind me Satan” was not an offense to him. “Satan has desired to have thee” was not an offense to him.....Peter was a stone of repentance.

John 1:35-42
35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples; 36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God! 37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. 38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou? 39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour. 40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. 41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. 42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.

We understand the twelve stones in Jordan were stones of repentance…

1 Kings 18:38
38 Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
The fire consumed: 1. the burnt sacrifice 2. The wood 3. The stones 4. The dust 5. Licked up the water in the trench.

The blind, the lame, the lepers, the deaf, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them.
1. You have made the inroad that prevents the people from being offended.
2. Because of you my message is received.
3. Your message of repentance has made it possible for all these to be healed and cleansed because they were not offended at my word.
4. The message of the law opposed to the message of Jesus’s perfect law: (Elijah)
5. Baal represents those serving law: the true altar represents those stone of repentance

Matt 11:4-15
4 Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: 5 The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. 6 And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. 7 And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? 8 But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings' houses. 9 But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. 10 For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. 11 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. 13 For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14 And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. 15 He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Could it be that the Syrophenician women had heard John?
Yes! She knew Jesus was the son of David: the promised messiah...
Where did she get this information if it was not from John?
She would not be offended because John had preached to her repentance.
Repent from thinking that deliverance comes in any other way but Jesus.
Repent for trusting in the Law of Moses which could not heal or restore you.
There is one coming after me whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose.
He shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire not many days hence.
The fact she would worship him had to be from John’s preaching
Behold our God shall come: behold the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world

Matt 15:22-28
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. 23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. 24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. 26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table. 28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

The one who restores Israel, as David restored Israel.
The one who brings the ark, as David brought the ark.
The greatest things that ever happened to Israel was when David ruled
The promised messiah: the messiah Abraham spoke of would come through David
Israel again would be the blessed of God
The only thing that stood in the way of this great regeneration was repentance.
If you will turn from your sins: in complete abandonment of previous persuasion: you will see God.

John 1:29-34
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. 30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me. 31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water. 32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. 33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. 34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

Loving the promises, loving the greatness of God, loving the forgiveness of sins
1. All of this cannot remain without the earth bed receiving repentance for the root to grow
2. The word will not be able to grow where there has been no repentance.
3. Repentance stops offences....

Matt 13:20-21
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it; 21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

1. I no longer want the approval of jericho and its government.
2. I am no longer desirous of serving the heathen
3. I have made up my mind that I want to hear what God has to say
4. You messengers of God, tell me what I am to be saved.......
5. No questions asked, when they think me promiscuous for the thread......

Heb 11:31
31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.
Our hearts did melt: this is what repentance does, nothing else except what God says matters. Nothing else except his instructions is desired or sought for. When you hear the gospel message of Jesus and the preaching of the day of Pentecost: your heart should melt.

Josh 2:10-12
10 For we have heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom ye utterly destroyed. 11 And as soon as we had heard these things, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more courage in any man, because of you: for the Lord your God, he is God in heaven above, and in earth beneath. 12 Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by the Lord, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also shew kindness unto my father's house, and give me a true token:

Our lives for your lives: do not be offended in what we say.
Exhibit the thread......keep it exhibited until the day of deliverance
This will make your house special.....all from the foundation of repentance.

Josh 2:13-14
13 And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death. 14 And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the Lord hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

This parable are the grounds which were left; because of no repentance
John’s message of repentance was to cease from the cares of this world
Cease to trust in riches and turn to the living God which comes after me.
1. If you hear me, you will receive him.
2. If you do not hear me: you will be offended at him
3. Those among thorns had not heard the message of John: and the cares of this world choked the word of God when it was heard from Jesus.

Matt 13:22
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
1. He heareth the word
2. He understands the word
3. He is not offended at the word

MATT 13:23
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

He that doeth truth is he that repents from doing evil.
1. If you heard the message of John: you would do the truth and come to the light

John 3:20-21
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

The Pharisees who repented not at the words of John:
Blasphemed Jesus and refused to acknowledge him as the son of David.
1. Is not this the son of David? They answered calling him of the devil.
2. Remaining true to the law like the worshipers of Baal.....they were destined to be destroyed

Matt 12:22-24
22 Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. 23 And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? 24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

Jacob on returning to bethel
1. He commanded his house to put away the strange Gods among them.
2. He commanded them to be clean and to change their garments.
3. Let us go up to bethel: evidently a hill
4. I will make there an altar unto God
5. Jacob disposed of the idols under an oak near Shechem
6. As a result the terror of God was upon the cities that were about them: and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob.

Gen 35:2-15
2 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange Gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments: 3 And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went. 4 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange Gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem. 5 And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob. 6 So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Bethel, he and all the people that were with him. 7 And he built there an altar, and called the place El-beth-el: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother. 8 But Deborah Rebekah's nurse died, and she was buried beneath Bethel under an oak: and the name of it was called Allon-bachuth.

GOD acknowledges Jacob at bethel as having come out of padan-aram....not Shechem because Shechem was a place he should have never gone to......
1. It took the experience with shechem and dinah to turn him to go up to bethel...and put away his strange Gods.
2. He renewed his name to be israel when he got rid of the strange Gods and washed and changed the garments of his household.

9 And God appeared unto Jacob again, when he came out of Padan-aram, and blessed him. 10 And God said unto him, Thy name is Jacob: thy name shall not be called any more Jacob, but Israel shall be thy name: and he called his name Israel. 11 And God said unto him, I am God Almighty: be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall be of thee, and kings shall come out of thy loins; 12 And the land which I gave Abraham and Isaac, to thee I will give it, and to thy seed after thee will I give the land. 13 And God went up from him in the place where he talked with him. 14 And Jacob set up a pillar in the place where he talked with him, even a pillar of stone: and he poured a drink offering thereon, and he poured oil thereon. 15 And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel.

I am sure they confessed their sins to God: turning from the evil of the law
1. Then John seeing their spirit bore fruits: he baptized them.
2. Once they were baptized: they should have become offense free..... expecting the soon appearance of the son of David...the messiah...God in a human form.

Mark 1:5
5 And there went out unto him all the land of Judaea, and they of Jerusalem, and were all baptized of him in the river of Jordan, confessing their sins.

He is so great i am not worthy to unloose his shoe latchet
I cannot purchase Israel with my message, all i can do is prepare you for the one who can purchase you.......

As Boaz purchased Ruth: he had to first offer it to those under law.....
1. I cannot baptize with the Holy Ghost and with fire.
2. I can prepare you or get you ready for this next baptism
3. Jesus is the Lamb of God which taketh away the sin of the world and those who will obey him, he will baptize with the Holy Ghost or the anointing of David.

Luke 3:16-18
16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: 17 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner; but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable. 18 And many other things in his exhortation preached he unto the people.

1. Were not ready for the coming of the messiah
2. Could not withstand the teachings of the word of God
3. The killing of John the Baptist was the doing of Herodias: the adulterous wife of Herod
4. The killing of John was by those who refused to repent of their evil
5. They claimed righteousness without repentance...
We have a world today who claim righteousness without repentance. For these people the gospel message must be changed: so they can have Christ without repentance.

Isa 8:14-18
14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. 15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken. 16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. 17 And I will wait upon the Lord, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him. 18 Behold, I and the children whom the Lord hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

Matt 13:55-57
55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? 56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? 57 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.

1. The root and the offspring of David: David loved repentance which caused him to have root in himself.

Matt 15:12-14
12 Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying? 13 But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up. 14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Prov 12:3
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but the root of the righteous shall not be moved.

Esau who lightly esteemed his birth right and could not receive the blessing because he would not repent of wanting the world.
Which do you want? Which will you choose? Which is the most important? Which will give you true consolation?
Jesus’s world or yours?

Esau could never be sorry for having done so, although he sought to be sorry carefully with tears.
1. Fornicator who had taken the seed of God and counted it to be distasteful selling the br.
2. Irreverence and contempt for God: he could not find repentance for.
3. Profane is this very thing: irreverence and contempt toward God.
4. He found no repentance for having sold his birthright for a morsel.

Without repentance there is no possibility of true grace in the soul.
1. He could not turn from loving the morsel more than the unseen birthright.
2. Although he sought it carefully with tears: he did not have the love inside of him for the things of God, greater than the things of the flesh.
3. Soup for birthright: this is the example God leave us for comparison: the comparison of living in the flesh opposed to living in the spirit.
4. It was because of no repentance that he did not inherit the blessing. God rejected him.

Heb 12:16-17
16 Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright. 17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

The damnation of seeking God without having repentance:
A danger which acquires knowledge but cannot cease from sins: doing despite unto the spirit of grace.
1. The spirit given in presumption of repentance and baptism in Jesus name.....
2. No repentance counting the blood of the covenant an unholy thing.

Heb 10:26-29
26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28 He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: 29 Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Have you repented or are you offended at the word?
