Pray Without Ceasing...and Then Pray Some More!

1 Thess 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

Pray Without Ceasing...and Then Pray Some More!

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand and know that prayer should be an essential trait of an Apostolic! Prayer should be apart of our is who we is our conduit and communication line to our God...many ask...if Jesus was God, why did he pray?

Ps 65:1-2 Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed. O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.

Prayer isn’t just some happy go lucky conversation...nor should it be taken lightly...or done with the wrong motives...

Matt 6:5-7 And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward. But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly. But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

You can say a million words and never say much at all...if the truth be known, we talk to much and don’t pray enough!

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

I’ll never forget a message Pastor taught...years falling prayer!

Matt 6:8-13 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him. After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Eph 6:5-8 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ; Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

Col 3:22-25 Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

1 Sam 1:1-7 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim-zophim, of mount Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah, the son of Jeroham, the son of Elihu, the son of Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephrathite:
And he had two wives; the name of the one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah: and Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children. And this man went up out of his city yearly to worship and to sacrifice unto the Lord of hosts in Shiloh. And the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the Lord, were there. And when the time was that Elkanah offered, he gave to Peninnah his wife, and to all her sons and her daughters, portions: But unto Hannah he gave a worthy portion; for he loved Hannah: but the Lord had shut up her womb.

(Childbearing was a very important part of Middle Eastern culture during Old Testament times. Children were a source of labor for the family and a sign of success for the women who bore them. Having no children was a sign of failure, so Hannah was a marked woman, a social outcast, a loser.)

6 And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the Lord had shut up her womb. And as he did so year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord, so she provoked her; therefore she wept, and did not eat.

Gal 4:27 For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.

Break forth and cry!!! We need to cry for the empty womb, a cry of prayer for the filling of the womb. The harvest is there, we need laborers and prayer warriors.

Matt 9:37-38 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

We need to start praying and travailing, for lost souls...we are working on producing a myriad of outreach programs for the church to step into and work!

We need to pray and open our mouths and let this gospel out...

Ps 13:1-6 How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me? How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me? Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death. Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved. But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation. I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.

So many times we wallow in our impatience...we feel forgotten...we think God doesn’t hear us...we pray and we pray and it seemingly doesn’t come to pass and then we step out of God’s timing and into our own...we wonder why God takes so long...this old flesh LOVES the to loves the loves to claim its own goodness and see... it’s not that God takes so long, it takes us so long to get out of HIS way...if no flesh is going to glory in His presence...if no flesh is going to get the glory...then your prayer will get answered when you stop trying to force and make your will into HIS will...because if you get your way, then you will claim it was God, but it wasn’t God at was YOU!

Who knows how many times she went up to the house of the Lord before this many many prayers had she prayed...but something was different about this time...something moved deep within the woman with the issue of the blind men crying for Jesus...or the lame man at the gate called beautiful...something sprang up within her...her inward talk was different...her approach was different...her attitude was different...

8 Then said Elkanah her husband to her, Hannah, why weepest thou? and why eatest thou not? and why is thy heart grieved? am not I better to thee than ten sons?
9 So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of the temple of the Lord.
10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed unto the Lord, and wept sore.

Hannah didn’t just pray...she prayed...she didn’t just mumble a few words and go on her way!

This was a no holds barred prayer...she didn’t care who was looking or watching...she PRAYED!

11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

Take a look at Hannah’s prayer!

It was focused.
Hannah's prayer was direct. She prayed to God to give her a son. She left God in no doubt of what she wanted. Her request was unconditional. She did not pray for a beautiful son, or an intelligent son, or one that was perfectly formed.

It brought her misery to the LORD.
She said in all honesty: "if you will only look upon your servant's misery and remember me...." Hannah told God how she felt. Many of us are poor at this, we bottle things up and never reveal our feelings.
Hannah felt better after her prayer. We read that: She went her way and ate something, and her face was no longer downcast.

There’s a difference between dumping yourself upon the Lord than dumping yourself upon another person...there’s a difference between casting your cares upon the Lord and casting your cares upon another person! When you touch the throne of will walk away changed!

The prayer appealed to God's mercy and grace.
Hannah did not complain to God. She didn't say to God, "It's not fair! I am a good wife. Why have you given that Penninah children and not me? I deserve a baby too."

All Hannah did was ask - remember me...forget not thine handmaid.

12 And it came to pass, as she continued praying before the Lord, that Eli marked her mouth.
13 Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she had been drunken.

Hey, you can have a little chat with Jesus or you can HAVE a chat with Jesus...there’s a difference!
Hey, you can talk to God...or you can TALK TO GOD.
Hey, you can pray or YOU CAN PRAY!

Jude 20-21 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

When was the last time you took your grief to the Lord?
What ever happened to prayer and praying for God to do the miraculous?

Isa 31:1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord!

The church prayed me in!!!
My wife PRAYED me in!!!

You want a child...pray! You want a husband...I’m not for this going down to Egypt to get a husband...I say pray! You want a wife...I’m not for this going down to Egypt to get a wife...I say...PRAY THEM IN!!!

Phil 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

14 And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be drunken? put away thy wine from thee.
15 And Hannah answered and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord.
16 Count not thine handmaid for a daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief have I spoken hitherto.
17 Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.
18 And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.

James 4:1-3 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

1 Sam 1:19-2:6 And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the Lord, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the Lord remembered her.
Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord. And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the Lord the yearly sacrifice, and his vow. But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the Lord, and there abide for ever. And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the Lord establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him. And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the Lord in Shiloh: and the child was young. And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli. And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the Lord. For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord. And he worshipped the Lord there.

And when the Lord answers your prayer...don’t forget to thank Him in prayer!

2:1 And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation. There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God. Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed. The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength. They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble. The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.

Ps 25:1-3 Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.

Rom 9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

MY SON...everyone in here that is a parent knows the bond they have with their transcends most anything on this earth...when they know their cry...when they hurt, you feel their pain...when they fail, you hurt for them...

He didn’t step buddy...he says MY SON!

Matt 7:11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Abraham prayed
Moses prayed for the people
Elisha the eyes of my servant that he may see...
Hezekiah prayed and God healed him
Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish's belly,

Our God prayed...
Matt 26:39 And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

Jesus was our example of how we are to walk in this earth and three times he prayed...and if this thing started in prayer and it’s going to END in prayer!

Lead me to an altar to pray!!!
