HERE IS THE ORIGINATION OF EVIL:
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
a. Brethren these are the words of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, if we were to understand anything else, would he not have told us right here?
b. We are defiled from within, not from without.
c. We can, however, allow that without, what we see, hear, smell, taste and feel to affect our heart.
d. If we allow these things which is our carnality to feed thoughts to our heart then we ourselves will become devils eventually being used of that evil.
e. The devil can come in at any time we are open for contrary thought and allow evil thought opposed to truth. For this reason, we must be given to learning and memorizing truth that we might hide his word in our hearts and gird up the loins of our mind with the word of God so we might not sin against God.
23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. 24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee. 25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee. 26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established. 27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
A. Here is where the serpent comes from and where we must guard to see that he does not enter our thinking processes.
WHAT DETERMINES A MAN TO BE A DEVIL OR SAINT?
Prov 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
a. This depends on what we allow to be put into our hearts.
b. It is not always what a man professes or what he may project in expression that will determine what he is, but as he thinketh in his heart so is he.
c. If a man does not have his thinking changed from carnal to the truth of Gods word he will eventually (No matter how much he may not want to) be used for evil.
Jer 17:10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.
a. The scripture contends: man is not a neutral entity only to be controlled by outside sources.
b. He gains information and makes decisions based upon which thoughts he has chosen. Not that a supernatural being comes about him to put thoughts into his mind.
c. This should help us to determine the importance of not just taking any thought without first carefully considering whether or not it is truth or a false doctrine.
d. Truth, a thought of my own or a doctrine of some man who has changed the truth of God into a lie only to worship the creature more than the creator.
THE TONGUE IS THE FELLOW THAT RELEASES WHAT IS IN THE HEART OR THE UNSEEN PART OF MAN, AND IT REVEALS THE HIDDEN.
HERE THE APOSTLE STATES THAT IT IS FULL OF DEADLY POISON, AS A SNAKE.
Rev 9:19 For their power is in their mouth, and in their tails: for their tails were like unto serpents, and had heads, and with them they do hurt.
Isa 9:15 The ancient and honourable, he is the head; and the prophet that teacheth lies, he is the tail.
FALSE PROPHETS THAT SPEAK LIES HAVE SPIRITS LIKE THAT OF SERPENTS AND DEADLY POISON IS UNDER THEIR LIPS. THEIR TAILS ARE LIKE SCORPIONS TAILS BECAUSE THEY KILL TRUTH WITH THEIR WORDS.
Rom 3:13-14 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:14 Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
Psa 58:3-5 The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.4 Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear; 5 Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.
DAVID KNEW THE SECRETS OF THE VISIBLE GIVING UNDERSTANDING TO THE INVISIBLE
a. The spirits of the wicked will never listen to the truth spoken ever so wisely.
b. DAVID SAID THE WICKED ARE ESTRANGED, THEIR POISON IS LIKE THE POISON
OF A SERPENT.
A Psalm of David. Deliver me, O LORD, from the evil man: preserve me from the violent man;
Psa 140:2-3 Which imagine mischiefs in their heart; continually are they gathered together for war. 3 They have sharpened their tongues like a serpent; adders' poison is under their lips. Selah.
WHERE DO SPIRITS ORIGINATE?
Mark 7:21-23 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, 22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
Pr 23:7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:
Pr 20:27 The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.
The spirit of a man tells or reflects that which is in the heart. This tells God what kind of a man is in the body. The kind of thoughts he takes unto himself from his heart will determine whether he is good or evil. If he allows eats the evil thought produced by his heart he can become a murderer like Cain. If he refuses God for his own understanding he becomes unacceptable or he may be obedient to truth and have a beautiful holy spirit.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. 5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
NOTICE VERSE 8.
Are we in the flesh? Yes! Then according to this verse we cannot please God. Statement: Some preachers do not understand flesh. They say you cannot cast out flesh. This statement "you cannot cast out flesh" is untrue. When Paul spoke of flesh he was not speaking of the bodily material we are made of. He was speaking of taking the thoughts produced by the carnal mind or the mind that gives in to the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the pride of life, which are all in the fleshly body. This mind sees only that which is natural and does not make a decision on that which is unseen or God. To be spiritually minded is to eat the word of God and to live after the spirit of God. The spirit of God is always known by truth. To know God who is a spirit is to know the truth which is the mind of the spirit. Hatred manifest from a person is a spirit. Strife manifest from a person is a spirit. Thievery is a spirit. adultery is a spirit. Our spirits are determined by the thoughts we accept or reject. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: 23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.
1. Evil thoughts don't come from a devil on the outside putting thoughts into us, but from within out of the heart. Is not wickedness an evil spirit? Is not deceit an evil spirit? Is not murder an evil spirit? Is not lasciviousness: illicit sexual desire an evil spirit?
Mark 7:15 There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
2. Everything that defiles a man comes from within from the heart. How do things get into our heart? Lust of the eye and flesh. We see things and we take them into our heart and then our heart responds. When we respond with the lust of the flesh and pride of life we take on ourselves an evil spirit.
Rom 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
We know there is one God because we have only one head and not two. We know also through the natural things created how to understand things unseen. We are what we eat. If we eat unhealthy food and drink we can't expect to be healthy but sick and weak. The same holds true of the spiritual, if we hear words and see actions that are evil and not good, our lives will be a product of that which we have eaten and digested into our thought processes. If truth and righteousness, we will be holy, if untruth and falseness, we will be evil and earthy. The same way bad food produces health problems
so does evil and illicit thought produces unwholesome and perverted lives and lifestyles.
HOW THEN ARE EVIL SPIRITS CAST OUT?
Mt 8:16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. God tried to do this with Cain but to no avail.
Gen 4:7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."(NEV)
Gen 4:7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.(KJV)
1. God called sin a “him” in the KJV and explains that he is like a beast of prey crouching and ready to devour Cain. If Cain does not master him which is Satan then Satan will become his master instead of God.
THE ONLY WAY TO OVERCOME THE DEVIL IS THROUGH FAITH! WATCH THIS!
Luke 22:31-32 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.(KJV)
1. Watch the Lord speak to Simon Peter the same way he spoke to Cain in the beginning.
2. His answer to Simon was faith in the Word of God will cause you to overcome the Devil which was sin and the desire in Peter to control Peters life.
3. Notice he said Simon, Simon! Why? Because this was the name of Peter before he found Jesus Christ the word made flesh. Jesus stated the fact that he savored the things that were of men and not those things that were of God. The fact that Peter wanted to have victory other than the approved plan of God at the cross made his spirit Satan. Not that there was an individual inside of him but that he lacked understanding concerning the words spoken by the Master in going to the cross. This being true he became an enemy of the word of God. His spirit was not being motivated and governed by opposing thought. An individual called the devil had nothing to do with this. The devil is born from illicit unidentified thoughts produce from our own understanding. To Peter the cross was not the answer and he would not hear of the plan. This is what happens when faith in Gods word is not present. Gods word must be received in faith for our spirits to be favorably affected.
This was carnal Simon who made decisions after the flesh. Remember the names changed
Abram to Abraham: from doubter to father of many nations.
Jacob to Israel: from liar cheater to an Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
Saul to Paul From the name of an Edomite to poor in spirit
4. Our names must be changed from Adam to Jesus in Baptism.
a. Notice Baptism is faith that the old man which is the devil must die. This is the confession of faith in the Word of God that we repent of our sin and believe that he will raise us by the Spirit of God to walk in newness of life.
b. Baptism is a type of what it will take a lifetime to do. We will spend an entire lifetime putting off the old man and putting on the new man which is Christ. This can only be accomplished by faith in the Word of God.
c. When the preachers give us instructions with the Word of God through anointed preaching we must grasp them with faith and become masters of our flesh. (Meaning the thoughts of our mind that produces illicit actions).
Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: (KJV)
41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God. 42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me. 43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word. 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. 45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
The seed you are born of: There are two seeds in this world the seed of our own carnal mind and the seed of the Word of God. Notice the seed they (The Jews) were born of: meaning their lives were the product of the seed of the thoughts of their fleshly mind.
44. The lusts of your father:
I J 2:16-17
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
1. If you say you believe the Word of God but your works are of the flesh you are a devil. Maybe not because you want to be but because you have not found out the principal of faith without works is dead.
2. Here is the serpent: When men who once professed to know truth turn from it to embrace a lie yet still profess to be scripturally correct, this is poison.
3. The Pharisees would not accept the truth of Jesus Christ which was the perfection of their law and Jesus called them serpents.
4. They did not have some devil other than the devil of evil thought come and persuade them that Jesus teachings were not true.
5. Jesus produced an overwhelming weight of evidence that proved him to be the Messiah but they disregarded it.
6. There is an overwhelming weight of evidence to support these teachings that spirits are in the flesh and the devil is the old man or nature of man. Man’s thoughts without the influence of the Word of God to change those thoughts produce works and actions that are not God.
7. This is why God will never allow a man to enter the kingdom by works of righteousness which men have done because he wants man to live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God and not one thought from his own mind. With the intents from God and not from his own heart.
8. This is why our works after faith has come are the only ones counted and he discerns our thoughts and intents by the preached word of God.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. 20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? 21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? (KJV)
a. Here is the secret to the scripture: James here refers to the Jew who professed one God but rejected the Lord Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Apostles.
b. Here is the Devil in Revelation 12...The Devil and his angels....His: Masculine because the spirit is against Christ teachings opposed to feminine which would receive the teachings of the Apostles doctrine.
c. The False church is the Woman who receives the false teachings of those who were against Christ from the beginning.
d. The Jewish religionists endeavored to bring the saints and clergy of the Apostles teachings back under the literal or the law and letter. Natural circumcision, literal priests instead of Pastors and the five fold ministry. Abstinence from meats, back to the literal feasts and observance of days and the new moons. THESE WERE THE DEVILS JAMES WAS TALKING ABOUT. He did not make this statement talking about spirits outside of the flesh.
Here James is speaking of the Jews of his day. The Jews who rejected Jesus Christ and also the Jews who crept in unawares to spy out the liberty of the Gentiles only to bring them into the bondage of continuing in the law.
4 And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage: 5 To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
a. Here was the tail of Revelations 12...False brethren
1 O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you? 2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh? 4 Have ye suffered so many things in vain? if it be yet in vain. 5 He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 6 Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. 7 Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham
a. Have ye begun in the Spirit to understand the types of the law to go back underneath the law.
b. The law was of the flesh because you could do the law without having a revelation of what it stood for.
c. You could do the law and have a rank spirit. In the law, you could be in the flesh while claiming approval to God.
d. Under the law, you could hate your brother while not hurting him physically you could have your heart full of envy.
e. Under the law, you could be naturally circumcised and have a heart uncircumcised.
f. Under the law, you could offer sacrifices and never offer the sacrifice of praise unto God.
g. Under the law, you could eat all right foods and have perfect health but be degeneration heart and spirit destitute of the word of God.
h. You could be as Paul as touching the law blameless while killing the saints of the most high God who proclaimed the truth of God.
i. The Jew had lost the truth of faith and had turned only to the letter.
j. This did not David. David had the revelation of the types and allegories of the old testament, the understanding of the heart and of the wicked and how it all worked.
k. David understood that the miracles of God came by loving the law of God and having faith in God.
l. This is why God went back to Abraham before the giving of the LAW at Sinai.
m. Abraham believed God and was justified before the law, those then that would try to bring saints and ministers back under the law were DEVILS.
n. The law was only given as a schoolmaster to lead us unto the anointing of God.
NOTICE YE ARE OF YOUR FATHER THE DEVIL:
39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham. 40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
1. They sought to kill the Word of God instead of hear and have faith.
2. These Jews said they had faith but in works they denied him.
3. They said they served God but when God stood before their face presenting truth they sought to kill him.
These were the works of the Devil. They believe in One God and tremble but they are in works devils. Now can you see that James was not talking about imps believing in one God and trembling. NO! NO! a thousand times NO! James was talking about men who believed in one God but would not follow Jesus Christ into regeneration and salvation in believing the Gospel, they believed in One God but in works were devils.
4. Ye are of your father the devil: Jesus was revealing who gave birth to their attitudes and spirits. The same evil was in Cain to destroy the one who obeyed the truth. While claiming to be Abraham children they were born of evil and lustful thought. They would not receive the truth but wanted to kill the truth because their deeds were evil. The devil here was the evil thoughts produced of the heart of which they were a product. They were born of those thoughts and not the thoughts of God.
5. God is a person the devil is a person.....The devil is any one person who is born of the carnal thought. The sons of God are those who are born of the thoughts and spirit of God. Those spirits that oppose God are the spirits not born of God, which mean by spirit and truth. So can you see that God is a person against a carnal mind. That all who are of that carnal mind are children of the devil.
6. The works of the devil are destroyed by the gospel: Death, burial, resurrection. Death to the old man and body of sin. A promise and a new identification with the Lord Jesus Christ in burial. The infilling of the Holy Ghost to walk above the lusts of the flesh and pride of life. This is how Jesus destroyed the works of the devil.
I J 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose, the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
a. The works of the devil is to destroy what God says, with a lie.
b. The works of the devil is to make Gods word look impossible to live.
c. The works of the devil is to taint the truth with accusations and imply it is a lie.
THUS THE DEVILS WORKS PRODUCE ALL THE WORKS OF THE FLESH.
THE DEVIL OR CARNAL THOUGHT, PRODUCE IN MAN EVIL WORKS.
d. When Jesus died the death of the cross it was to prove all allegations and implications of the devil lies.
e. When he rose from the dead and fulfilled his promises he made the devil a liar and his word true.
1 Cor 15:6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.
f. Herein lies the gospel message, without this understanding we can see why many today believe only in the message of be saved and not the message of putting on the Lord Jesus Christ and making no provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof.
g. Our salvation is in hearing sound doctrine and responding to the preached and taught word of God, putting off the old man and putting on the new man.
Heb 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
1. In church is where our spirits are changed from devilish to being like Jesus.
2. Spirits are in flesh and what thoughts you and I eat are what kind of spirit we will be.
3. James was asking a New Testament church if this was the kind of salvation they also desired.
Prov 16:2 All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
11 And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.12 And he straightly charged them that they should not make him known.
1. Can an unclean spirit fall down? No! Unless the unclean spirit is in a man. So when Mark spoke of unclean spirits he was talking about the man who was controlled by unclean spirits.
2. Again our spirits are the candle of the Lord. Our spirit will either be clean or unclean, depending on the thoughts we take and digest into our mind to become what motivates us. The preaching of the Word in the church can perfect the spirits of the saints.
3. The devil which is the old man or carnal nature of man can produce many different spirits. People can have both good and evil about them. They can choose truth in areas and their own thoughts in other areas. People live on different plateaus with different degrees of need for deliverance. Even in church, we are somewhere between babes and adult Christian.
4. The thoughts that are in us captivate us to the works of the flesh. If we have many thoughts and ideas contrary to the truth we can be full of unclean spirits. Now when we come to the knowledge of the truth and repent,
There is therefore now no condemnation to them who are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. So you see condemnation leaves us when we quit leaning to our own thoughts. Now our spirits can talk to Jesus without our ever opening our mouths because he knows our thoughts.
Matt 9:4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts? This is how the legion spoke to Jesus. Jesus saw this desire of these spirits as he did in Cain and in Peter and gave them leave to go into an unclean animal which was in type in the Old Testament as the unclean thoughts produced by our hearts.
This is why the bible says to:
1 Pet 1:13-14 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; 14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
a. Our mind is made up of three different sections: One: the thinker or producer of thought. Two: The chooser or that which picks which thought it will eat. Just like we choose food. Three: the doer or part that actually puts the thought into action.
b. We can have thoughts laying around for a long time because we won't shed loose of them. We entertain them and eventually because of situation or circumstance our heart becomes vulnerable and they are slipped into our doer.
John 13:2 And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;
Pro 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
c. This is why we must gird up the loins or the reproductive part of our minds so that not just any thought has the ability to enter into our actions. The devil is this evil carnal heart of man that will sell out truth for money or mammon.
Jer 17:9-10 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? 10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. Only the word of God can know the heart. When it is preached the word of God will determine what spirit we are of.
Heb 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The mind is the heart and the mind does many things. It makes thought. It chooses thought. It conceives or takes in thought. Satan which is the carnal evil thought that the heart produces could not have put it into the heart of Judas if Judas’s chooser was not on the take. This is why we must keep or guard our hearts with all diligence. This is why we must wrap our minds up so not to let in every thought that comes out of our heart into our belly for digestion. Jesus said except you eat my flesh and drink my blood you shall have no part of me. What was he talking about? Of course, he was talking about the Word of God which was made flesh in him. He was the bodily representation of God on this earth. In action, in word and deed, God was in Christ. God is a spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and truth. Jesus was the spirit of truth, the Holy Ghost is the Spirit of truth. When we eat the word we eat the promise and receive the Spirit of that truth in the form of the Holy Ghost. When we eat the carnal earthy thoughts we receive of another spirit that is not of God. The gates or the chooser of Judas Iscariot’s heart was open to receive the thoughts produced by the heart. This is how the devil put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot.
53 And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem. 54 And when his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did? 55 But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
1. When James saw they were not received he went the carnal way to destroy them by fire. THIS SPIRIT WAS A VENGEFUL SPIRIT OF THE FLESH.
2. Jesus simply made the statement that they were unaware of what motivated them to this end of killing.
Those who say you cannot cast out flesh are simply not of understanding what flesh is in the bible. For instance.
Gen 6:13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
1, Notice the end of all flesh: my question, was Noah part of all flesh? The answer is no! Noah was out of the fleshly mind and into faith following the Spirit of God. If God were speaking of the natural flesh only, the Word of God would be inaccurate saying all flesh, because Noah was certainly flesh.
17 And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die. 18 But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
2. Notice God was not talking about mans physical existence only but the spirit he was of. If he followed God or his own thoughts.
3. Watch this:
Gen 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.
SO WHEN YOU PREACH THE WORD IN SUCH A WAY TO CONVICT A PERSON AND STOP THEM FROM DOING EVIL, YOU HAVE CAST OUT A SPIRIT.
When the Spirit of the Lord comes in and the praise and worship of God take over a service, that all by itself can convict us; by the goodness and joy that we would repent of any evil in our hearts.
THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD ALWAYS COMES REPRESENTING TRUTH IF THE TRUTH HAS BEEN PREACHED.
a. Also When Christ is produced out of our preaching this casts out the spirits of the flesh. God is the God of the spirits of all flesh, why can't God cast out the spirits he wants and leave the spirits he likes, while producing the other spirits that are lacked? He can!
How did sin get into the world?
Most preachers will say what the Baptists have come up with, but this holds no validity. With all respect to those who hold the theory that the devil is a person all by himself. They say there was sin in heaven! Sorry! I can't buy that. The angels that sinned were not the kind that are before the throne of God worshiping day and night. These angels cannot and will not ever sin because they were never made with a will to sin. This is why the bible says Jesus was made a little lower than the angels. Because he had to come where sin was to redeem man from sin. The truth on "Good and Evil" was evidently lost when the truth on the oneness of God was lost. When truth is lost, men go around with their own ideas until truth is revealed once again. Study, prayer, fasting, sincerity with obedience were the one time ways to finding truth, now many have taken it for granted that what truth they came into was right. My brethren we cannot accept what the protestants and Catholic have given us if it does not contain and bear the overwhelming weight of evidence the scripture carries.
5 For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
6 Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:
2 Pet 2:4
4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;
6 And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day.
HOW DID SIN THEN ENTER THE WORLD?
Rom 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:
a. Sin came into the world through Adam and Eve. When Adam and Eve were created they were perfect because they were able to be in Eden the paradise of God. Of course God knew they would sin because he gave them a nature to sin. This would then give
them the chance to chose to serve God or their own will.
Rom 8:20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected the same in hope,
a. This vanity is the sinful nature, the flesh, the devil.
b. God would provide a better choice for them in hope, if they chose it.
c. Adam was an angel or a messenger from God to his wife and family.
d. Angel: simply means messenger
THESE EXAMPLES HERE ARE MESSENGERS OF GOD OR PREACHERS WHICH ARE GREATER IN POWER AND KNOWLEDGE THAN THE RAILING BRUTE BEASTS OF
THE CONCISION WHO ACCUSE THE MINISTRY AND THE CHURCH DAY AND NIGHT.
THE ACCUSER OF THE BRETHREN IS THE CARNAL MIND OF MAN. THOSE WHO DO NOT EMBRACE TRUTH ACCUSE THOSE THAT DO. THE SAME AS THE PHARISEES DID JESUS AND HIS DISCIPLES. THESE ARE MINISTERS
2 Pet 2:11 Whereas angels, which are greater in power and might, bring not railing accusation against them before the Lord.
Rev 1:20 The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
THE ANGELS OF THE CHURCHES ARE THE MINISTERS OF THE CHURCHES THAT ARE RESPONSIBLE TO DELIVER THE WORD OF GOD AND WHAT THE SPIRIT IS SAYING TO THAT CHURCH. THEREFORE THE ANGELS THAT SINNED ARE NOT ANGELS INCAPABLE OF SIN BUT THE MESSENGERS OF GOD WHO WERE IN FLESH.
CHAINS OF DARKNESS:
Jude 1:13 Raging waves of the sea, foaming out their own shame; wandering stars, to whom is reserved the blackness of darkness for ever.
THESE ARE PEOPLE AND PREACHERS WHO WILL NEVER BE ENLIGHTENED BECAUSE THEY REFUSE TO BE UNDER SUBJECTION AND AUTHORITY OF THE APOSTOLIC MINISTRY.
Eph 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
THIS IS THE FIGHT OF THE CHURCH. WE WRESTLE WITH THE FALSE DOCTRINES AND THE RELIGIOUS RULERS OF DOCTRINES THAT CANNOT BRING MEN TO LIGHT.
2 Cor 4:6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
THIS DARKNESS IS THE CARNAL MINDS OF MEN WHICH IF NOT BROKEN BY THE LIGHT WILL REMAIN IN EVERLASTING CHAINS OF DARKNESS...
Eph 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
John 12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
Matt 4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.
ADAM AND EVE WHERE CAST DOWN INTO CARNALITY WHERE THEY WOULD BE WITHOUT GOD WALKING AND TALKING WITH THEM AND INSTRUCTING THEM IN THE WAY OF TRUTH. GOD MADE AWAY FOR THEM BACK INTO HIS FAVOR THROUGH THE OBEDIENCE OF FAITH. IF THEY WOULD SHOW FAITH IN HIS WORD TO DO THE TRUTH THEY COULD AGAIN FIND FAVOR WITH GOD. TO BE CARNALLY MINDED IS DEATH. TO BE CARNALLY MINDED IS SPIRITUAL DARKNESS.
a. Again to be carnally minded is to have a mind that is fed only by what can be felt, seen, touched, smelled and heard.
b. To be spiritually minded is to have believed the Word of God, to have received of the promises of the Word of God and to be walking in the light of the Word.
IS ISAIAH 14 PROOF OF AN ANGEL FALLING FROM HEAVEN?
Isa 14:4 That thou shalt take up this proverb against the king of Babylon, and say, How hath the oppressor ceased! the golden city ceased!
a. The question was asked: Can't this be an allegory of the devil having fallen from heaven? The answer to this is no! Here is why?
BABYLON THEN WAS A TYPE OF WHERE ALL FALSE RELIGION WOULD COME FROM. THIS KING WOULD BE THE TYPE OF THE ATTITUDE THAT WOULD CORRUPT THE CHURCH AND FLATTER THE WORLD BEGINNING IN THE DAYS OF THE APOSTLES. INSTEAD OF PLEASING GOD BABYLON WILL CHOOSE TO PLEASE MEN. BEGINNING WITH NEBUCHADNEZZAR THE HEAD OF GOLD SP0KEN OF IN THE BOOK OF DANIEL. THIS KINGDOM WOULD BECOME RELIGIOUS IN THE DAYS AFTER JESUS CHRIST ACCORDING TO THE IMAGE IN DANIEL WHICH HAD FEET OF IRON MIXED WITH MIRY CLAY. THE BABYLONISH KINGDOM TOOK ON
SPIRITUALITY DURING THE KINGDOM OF ROMAN EMPIRE IN IMAGE OF DANIELS VISION. BABYLON OF OLD IS ONLY A PICTURE OF BABYLON FUTURE.
Brightness or Morning Star:
This is a picture of the spirit of Nebuchadnezzar in the beginning of God using him. God raised up the king of Babylon for his own purposes.
11 Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. 15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. 16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms; 17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
IN THESE SCRIPTURES THERE IS NO POSSIBILITY OF AN ANGEL FALLING FROM GODS HEAVEN.
1. THIS IS A PROVERB AGAINST THE KING OF BABYLON (NEBUCHADNEZZAR)
2. HE SET HIS THRONE AS A KING ABOVE THE STARS OF GOD WHICH ARE THE PROPHETS OF GOD.
3. HE SAID IN HIS HEART..ALLOWED THE THOUGHT AND ATE IT, THAT HE WAS GREATER THAN GOD. WE KNOW HE WAS BROUGHT DOWN TO BE AS AN ANIMAL.
4. BROUGHT DOWN TO HELL (SHEOL OR THE GRAVE)
a. NEBUCHADNEZZAR MADE THE EARTH TO TREMBLE AND SHOOK KINGDOMS.
b. CAUSED THE EARTH TO BE A DRIVING PASTURE. DESTROYED CITIES
5. IS THIS THE MAN....THIS WAS NOT AN ANGEL BUT A MAN WHO WAS LIFTED UP BY GOD TO BE RULER OF BABYLON HE NEVER GAVE GOD GLORY TO OPEN THE HOUSE OF THOSE WHO WERE TRAPPED BY HIS FALSE WORSHIP OF IDOLS.
6. THIS RULER SHOULD HAVE STRENGTHENED THE NATIONS BUT INSTEAD HE WEAKENED THEM THROUGH HIS WORSHIP OF OTHER GODS.
20 Thou shalt not be joined with them in burial, because thou hast destroyed thy land, and slain thy people: the seed of evildoers shall never be renowned.
7. THIS MAN WAS BURIED, SLEW PEOPLE AND DESTROYED THE LAND. DON'T EVEN TRY AND FIT THIS INTO THE EARTH BEING WITHOUT FORM AND VOID AND DARKNESS UPON THE FACE OF THE DEEP. THIS WAS A PROCESS THAT GOD WENT THROUGH TO CREATE THE WORLD. ADAM WAS THE FIRST MAN AND SIN ENTERED THE WORLD THROUGH HIM AND NOT A PERSON CALLED LUCIFER. LUCIFER WAS THE NAME OF THE PROUD SPIRIT THAT WAS IN NEBUCHADNEZZAR. NEBUCHADNEZZAR FELL FROM HIS HEAVENLY PLACE IN THIS PROVERB, NOT FROM THE LITERAL HEAVEN OF GODS ABODE.
The purpose of a savior:
A way to get out of sins condemnation had to be shown.
Rm 8:1 God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh condemned sin in the flesh. No condemnation now to the man who is walking after the spirit of God and no longer after the thoughts and spirit of the flesh which is the devil.
HEBREWS 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
JESUS CAME TO DESTROY THE ONE WHO HAS THE POWER OF DEATH.
PROVERBS 18:21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
a. If life and death are in the power of the tongue and the tongue is empowered by the heart, Matt 15:8 Matt 12:34 Mark 7:21 Jer 17:9 Ja 3:1-4 and these things cause a man to do evil works of which Jesus said was the devil.
Heb 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
ROMANS 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
THE BODY OF SIN MIGHT BE DESTROYED. THIS IS THE PURPOSE OF JESUS COMING TO DESTROY THE BODY OF SIN.
JAMES 3:5-8 Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! 6 And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. 7 For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: 8 But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
MATT 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
HERE WE GO BACK TO THE HEART. THE HEART POWERS THE MOUTH AND THE MOUTH CONTROLS THE BODY AND LIFE AND DEATH. IF THE HEART IS WICKED THE TONGUE IS FULL OF DEADLY POISON AND IS LIKE A SERPENT OR A SCORPION.
THIS IS WHAT JESUS CAME TO DESTROY. HOW DID HE DO THAT? HE WAS TRUTH
AND HE WAS THE WORD OF GOD MADE FLESH. NO SIN LAID TO HIS CHARGE NO
GUILE FOUND IN HIS MOUTH. THE WAY TO ETERNAL LIFE WAS MADE PLAIN, A PATTERN THAT MAN COULD FOLLOW. DEATH COULD NOT HOLD HIM. HE OVERCAME THE CARNAL MIND. RM:8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. THIS PAINTS THE PICTURE: IF THE MIND IS A CARNAL MIND THEN THE MOUTH WILL DIRECT THE BODY INTO DEATH. THIS IS WHY WE ARE TO HIDE THE WORD OF GOD DOWN IN OUR HEARTS THAT WE MIGHT SPEAK THE WORD AND GAIN THE VICTORY AND NOT SIN AGAINST GOD.
IF OUR HEART IS WRONG THEN OUR WORKS WILL BE ACCORDING TO WHAT IS IN OUR HEARTS. WE WILL SPEAK AND DIRECT OUR LIVES ACCORDING TO THE CONDITION OF OUR HEARTS.
I Jn 3:8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
CAIN WAS THE FIRST PICTURE OF THE DEVIL.
ADAM AND EVE SINNED BUT THEY RETURNED FROM THEIR SIN. CAIN DID NOT AND WOULD NOT RETURN FROM HIS SIN. THIS IS HOW YOU CAN TELL THE CHILDREN OF THE DEVIL AND THE CHILDREN OF GOD.
Cain hated the truth because he thought God should accept him and his sacrifice although it was not what God had asked for. By this action he became the type of the Devil who would be the false teachers in the days of the Apostles, previously spoken of. Cain was marked with a mark on his forehead and the false church also has this mark, but today it is a spiritual mark. The mark of the lifestyle and testimony of their works.
I Jn 3:9-10
9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
I Jn 3:8-9 8 the one who practices sin is of the devil; for the devil has sinned from the beginning. The Son of God appeared for this purpose, that He might destroy the works of the devil. 9 No one who is born of God practices sin, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. (NAS)
THIS IS VERY SIMPLE: CAIN CONTINUED IN HIS SIN WHILE ADAM AND EVE REPENTED TO LIVE FOR GOD. THERE ARE MANY RELIGIONS WHO CLAIM TO BE SAVED WHO STILL PRACTICE SIN. THEY BELIEVE THEY CAN SIN BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN SAVED BY A GOSPEL THAT IS REALLY NOT A GOSPEL AT ALL.
IF THE GOSPEL BELIEVED DOES NOT DESTROY THE OLD MAN WHICH IS THE DEVIL AND PUT ON CHRIST THEN IT CANNOT STOP THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL.
30 And Jesus asked him, "What is your name?" And he said, "Legion"; for many demons had entered him. 31 And they were entreating Him not to command them to depart into the abyss. (NAS)
a. Many spirits come out of a man when confronted with the truth.
b. Cigarette demon cries for its existence.
c. Lying spirits, Alcohol, Drugs, Party spirits,
d. Unclean spirits such as: Fornicating or adulterine, carousing Pornography, Lustful flirting, Fleshly dress, Lazy, Slothful spirits.
e. Let us remain in the life while still claiming deliverance.
f. There is no compromise with these devils, they must be left as Israel left Egypt.
g. Pharaoh pled with Moses to leave the cattle, something that would connect them back to Egypt.
h. Just leave one connection so they will have to return for it. These same different spirits in Legion entreated Jesus not to command them to depart.
Any time a visitor comes to church they are confronted with Jesus and these spirits immediately begin to cry for their existence.
a. While Jesus is preparing to command them out, they are making their case for survival.
b. Reasons and justifications to continue doing the things of the flesh.
c. It is easier to get the devils out of legion than to get a spirit out of the man who hasn't got a graveyard for his home.
d. These spirits lost hold because it was time and the man saw all of his arguments weak futile cases. Anybody that worships the Lord will be loosed by the Lord.
e. If there is worship for God then there will be an obedience to the command of the Lord.
f. This man had come to the end of his journey and while holding to all the fleshly spirits was ready to die if not freed.
g. All the justifications was not enough to resist the command of the Lord Jesus You see when he worshipped it showed his will to serve the Lord. Jesus did not save this man against his will. He did not just walk up and cast out devils. He cast out devils because it was time for them to come out. This man was at the end of sins journey.
NU 27:16 (And Moses spake unto the LORD, saying,)16. Let the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, set a man over the congregation,
a. Spirits are in the flesh.
b. They get in the air through our attitudes, actions, and expressions.
c. Paul said he didn't beat the air trying to destroy something in it but he hit at what counted.
1 Cor 9:26-27 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: 27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.
Lev 17:7 And they shall no more offer their sacrifices unto devils, after whom they have gone a whoring. This shall be a statute for ever unto them throughout their generations.
a. The spirits in the Old Testament were those produced by worship of idols.
b. Moses called idols "devils".
4 Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands. 5 They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: 6 They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: 7 They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat. 8 They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.
a. The idols were devils that had to be made by the hand of men.
b. The men that made them, made them according to how they wanted the idol to command him.
c. Worshipping he did not know what. Worship of a false hope. An invention of man’s own heart.
d. The men that made them were like them in that they cannot either see or hear and trust in themselves.
e. David knew the men that made something out of his own heart to worship was as a devil.
f. One of the main idols of their day was Baal......
THE JEWS REFER TO JESUS AS THE HEAD OF AN IDOL GOD
The Canaanite god most often referred to is Baal, which means "lord" or "master." The word could be used as a title for any person who owned something, or any god considered to be a lord or master. But the word Baal soon became identified with various regional gods that were thought to provide fertility for crops and livestock. As a god who symbolized the productive forces of nature, Baal was worshiped with much sensuality <Num. 22:41; Judg. 2:13; 1 Kin. 16:31-32>.
Baal appeared in many forms and under many different names. The Bible often makes reference to the Baalim (the plural of Baal; KJV) or to the Baals (NKJV; <Judg. 2:11; 1 Kin. 18:18; Jer. 2:23>).
The word Baal was often used in forming names, such as Baal of Peor <Deut. 4:3>; (Baal-peor, KJV). Peor was the name of a mountain in Moab. Baal of Peor was an idol of Moab (probably to be identified with Chemosh) which Israel was enticed to worship with immoral practices. In several passages the idol is simply called Peor <Nu. 25:18; Josh. 22:17>.
Baal-Berith, which means "lord of the covenant," is a name under which Baal was worshiped in the time of the judges at Shechem, where he had a temple. In <Judges 9:46> he is called simply the god Berith.
Baal-Zebub, which means "lord of the fly," was "the god of Ekron" <2 Kin. 1:2-3,6, 16>-- the name under which Baal was worshiped at the Philistine city of Ekron. This god was worshiped as the producer of flies, and consequently as the god that was able to defend against this pest. In the New Testament, reference is made to Beelzebub, a heathen god considered the chief evil spirit by the Jewish people <Matt. 10:25; 12:27; Luke 11:18-19>. The Pharisees called him "the ruler of the demons" <Matt. 12:24; Mark 3:22; Luke 11:15>, and Jesus identified him with Satan.
a. The Jews were actually saying that Jesus possess the spirits that produce idol worship.
b. That he was the head of the spirits of Baal Worship.
c. Jesus Christ accused of being a devil or a spirit opposed to truth.
d. The Jew of that how was blinded by their own hardness of heart and long sense stopped believing that there being in captivity was any fault of their own
e. The truth of worshiping God with their heart had long been lost by the Jew and replaced with the formalism of the law and the traditions of man and not of God.
1. Where are the devils outside of the flesh found in the bible?
2. Where is the whereabouts of Satan if he is a person?
3. How does Satan pluck away the seed of the word of God when it is sown in different location on the earth? if he is not omnipresent?
4. The devil is in the words of this days music, why do we have to play records backward to hear what the devil has to say.
5. Why do we have people spit into hankies when we cast out evil spirits? Do they reside in saliva?
6. Why would an evil spirit that has intelligence come into your room to torment you and cause you to get down on your knees to pray?
7. Why would he appear in the form of a ghost to make you call on God? Is he stupid?
8. God control the spirits of all flesh. Wouldn't he be the one who tries us just before he blesses us, like he did to Abraham when he went o Moria?
9. We always say the devil fights the hardest just before the blessings of God comes
a. Don't you think Abraham had some problems getting the provisions tied on his donkey and starting out for Moria.
b. Don't you think it was hard keeping his command from his wife and his son.
c. When we do the will of God why do we always blame a devil in the air for the things that happen? Could they not be God trying us to find out if we will quit or go on?
10. Why do we think like Israel that the devil is responsible for all the bad that happens to us? Should we not check our and repent if necessary or if trouble is coming should we not handle it and praise God through it for his deliverance if we are clean out of sin.
11. If Jesus came to destroy a devil, I am sure he did according to Heb 2:14. If the devil is not the evil heart producing words and actions he destroyed then what did he destroy?
12. If evil spirits are not in the flesh, name one place in the bible where they can be seen outside of the flesh.
a. Remember man is upon earth but he goes before God in heaven.
b. Remember also spirits in men on earth come before God in heaven.
c. God sees them but there is no evil in his abode.
Eccl 5:2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.
13. Who was the Satan here? Was he still another person? Or Peters spirit?
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. 22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. 23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offense unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
a. Here was a spirit in Peter that wanted to possess him.
b. A spirit to stop Jesus from his work. His thoughts had conflicted with what the Lords thoughts were.
c. We have them here revealed: Peter savored the things that were of men and not that which was of God. Peter saw a natural kingdom taken through miraculous power. Not a kingdom taken by the cross and the resurrection.
d. Satan here can be construed to mean anyone who is religious thinking about the scripture in a contrary way and does not understand.
Job 1:6-7 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. 7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
a. The sons of God are men who have flesh
Job 38:7 When the morning stars sang together, and all the sons of God shouted for joy?
a. The foundations of the earth were laid in Adam.
b. When these foundations were laid in the sons of Adam they shouted for joy.
c. They shouted for joy because they had received the word of God which made them the sons of God.
Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
a. Here are the sons of God in the days of Noah when the sons of God looked upon the daughters of men.
b. Brethren do you believe that these were angels which came down to lay with mankind. I sincerely hope not.
c. They were those of Adams lineage who received the word of God which God laid in Adam.
d. In order to be a son of God you must have flesh and blood.
e. Adam was a son of God, God being his spiritual Father and the earth being his Mother.
f. Sons of God are those who are made and given birth from flesh and blood as from Adam.
Sons of God were as Peter, able to present themselves before God with Satan or evil ruling them and dominating their spirits.
a. God spoke the devil in the sons of God the same way he spoke to Peter in Mark 16.
b. The friend or miserable comforters of Job were Elaphaz, Bildad and Sophar.
c. Here is a story that contains the conditions of mans hearts and Gods efforts to cast out the evil of the heart for mans redemption.
d. God allowed Satan that was in the Sons of God to move him against job without a cause.
e. Not without a cause as far as his friends were concerned but as far as God was concerned.
f. Since Satan was the spirit that moved God it was Satan that destroyed Jobs children and possessions. God sent an evil spirit on Saul it says one place in the scripture. God will use evil for good and his own purposes to bring about a good end. Since God was moved by evil the spirit that moved against Job was an evil spirit from the Lord. Not a personal devil who God allowed to do it. A man who holds jealousy and refuses to repent of it, God will send an evil spirit like he did to Saul. Saul then attempted to destroy David and the anointing.
g. The scripture says Satan smote Job with boils but all sickness is the curse of God.
Read Deut 28. The blessings and curses of God. Satan is used in Job to identify the reason and cause behind the happenings. The reason it says Satan smote Job with boils is because this was an evil Spirit sent forth from God as sickness not an individual called Satan.
h. No devil came before the throne of God reporting what he was doing. No devil angel can walk into heaven at their leisure. Only the sons of God who can appear before God in prayer making accusation.
i. God pulled down the hedge from around Job to allow these evil spirits in his three so called friends to see that Job was not serving him for riches. But that he was serving him because he loved and trusted him.
j. God came to Elihu in the anointing whirlwind and gave Job the answers to his problem and trials.
k. Job was not pleased with the three friends and made them go to job.
HOW MEN APPEAR BEFORE GOD?
a. Of course all men are seen by God, he is aware and observes all his creation but all men do not appear before God to speak to him and receive from him. This can only be accomplished by having obeyed his word and bringing a sacrifice.
11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. 12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?
a. Cain and Able appeared before God in offering their sacrifices to him.
b. Here in Isaiah it shows that Israel appeared before God with their sacrifices.
c. This was not accepted because they appeared with evil in their hearts also.
d. God would not accept their sacrifices while their hearts where unclean.
SATAN CAME ALSO AMONG THEM:
Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.
Of course Peter did this innocently wanting the best for Jesus while not seeing the will of God. Jesus detected Peter contradicting his words and shedding doubt on the validity of his word. Jesus could not let this pass because it was a breach against the Lord implying a possible mistake in God. The perhaps Jesus did not see clearly and have it all together. This Jesus labeled as SATAN or an enemy of God and man. This spirit of Satan was in Peter the disciple of Jesus. This is what Satan is, he is a spirit that comes from a wrong thought process of mans mind, that causes him to think differently than the will of God.
A spirit of jealousy and accusation against Jobs righteousness and blessing from God were in the hearts of the Sons of God Eliphaz, Bildad and Sophar. God seeing these spirits in the Sons of God, spoke to them asking them if they had considered his good servant Job? Bringing all the good and upright qualities to light about Job. God did not suggest to the devil that he wanted him to try him! God was endeavoring to remove this animosity from their hearts through common observance of Jobs life. How does God speak to us? Through prayer God talks to us. We are supposed to have his word hid in our hearts that we might not sin against God. In prayer he brings these things out of our heart that should convict us and correct our thinking. God could not reach the sons of God because they were full of accusation and would not turn. This is the reason for the trials God brought on his servant Job. He proved through this trial that Job was truly a servant of God and that Eliphaz, Bildad and Sophar were in error with jealousy, envy and evil accusation against their brother in the Lord. Through this trial God removed Satan out of the hearts of the Sons of God. Jesus rebuked Peter and exposed the spirit that was in him and corrected the attitude before it went any further at that point. This spirit evidently remained in Peter because he cut off the ear of Malchus and would have defended the Lord with his life. Peter went through bitter trial to learn the evil of his own heart and the grip Satan held him with as he denied, cursed and retreated in defeat at the trail and execution of Jesus Christ. Faith was the ingredient that overcame the devil and converted his spirit from taking the
Kingdom by the sword to receiving the kingdom through obedience. The devil is the spirit that comes from men when their hearts thought is against the will of God and the truth of his word to do as a man would do and not as God would have him do. Spirits are real and the devil is real but he is the old man or old nature and not a literal person.
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offense unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. 24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
a. Satan is the spirit in us that opposes God and savors the things that is of man.
b. This spirit was in Peter here in opposing Jesus going to the cross.
c. Peter was under the law so we can see the picture of the old unregenerated man without the Spirit of God.
d. The devil is the old man with the old way of thinking, not receiving the word of truth to change his thinking.
Rom 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
The first time the old man is mentioned is here in Romans 6 where Paul reveals to the church the purpose of Baptism. If we remain in the old mind thinking and making decisions based on our own understanding and thoughts, we will produce a spirit in disagreement with God. Our minds must be Baptized with the word of God, the old thoughts buried and the new thoughts of the Gods word taken. When this happens, the body which was propelled by the thoughts of our sinful nature will be destroyed and our new actions will be of righteousness. Here the devil is found out. When our hearts are circumcised we have destroyed the devil. When we crucify the old man we destroy the body that used to be used to sin. Jesus showed in his death burial and resurrection that the only way to life was thought death. Jesus came to destroy him who has the power of death that is the devil. If we crucify our old heart and the thoughts that are contrary to his word we will have destroyed the devil. If a spirit is on a saint we can through the preaching of the word or through the word of knowledge reveal the contrary thought and cast it out as Jesus did to Peter. The reason there are so many different spirits today in Pentecost is because the word of God is not revealed and the people do not study enough to see themselves and hear God talking to them. Our faith must be in the word of God the same way Peter's was for us to overcome and have victory.
Eph 4:22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;
HERE IS THE POINT OF JOB.
a. Not that God had allowed the devil to talk to him about Job but that he had allowed Job to be stripped for several reasons. God did not instigate the devil to try Job. God endeavored to remove the evil from the Sons of God by asking them to consider and compare their accusations with the life of Job his servant. A good observation would reveal that Job was upright and feared God and that their accusations bore no merit.
1. His sons, daughters and wife had not lived for God in spite of Jobs walk with God and his continual prayer for them.
2. God took his sons and daughters because they would not live for God and walk after the leadership of their father Job.
3. Through this great trial God brought upon Job He removed the lies and evil spirits from Eliphaz, Sophar and Bildad.
4. God removed the self righteousness from Job and restored his wife from her doubts and unbelief. He gave Job double what he had lost in material things along with daughters that represented his teachings well.
5. Thus showing all that he did was just.
Satan was in the hearts of the sons of God, this is why God asked the question if they had considered his good servant job. Evil accusation was in the hearts of Jobs friends. Evil surmising and accusations in the heart is Satan. Satan is not a person but an enemy and adversary of the soul that comes out of our thoughts. Spirits are in men and come from wrong thinking. Wrong thinking comes from not being obedient to Gods truth. When we refuse to be obedient to God he chastens us that we would not be condemned with the world. The only way for Jobs friends to be saved and Jobs faith and righteousness vindicated was for them to face a trial and be able to see the error of their ways.
10 And the LORD turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before. 11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the LORD had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.
a. Here was Gods confidence in the man, he believed he would forgive those who had evil against him, while having still maintained his own integrity with God.
b. Job becomes the type of the O.T. church. Those who came into the teachings of Christ and the N.T. church are the daughters of Job after the trial.
c. The only ones that will survive are those who find the covering of God in the Spirit to escape his wrath.
d. The Lord tried to talk the spirits out of the sons of God, Elaphaz, Sophar and bildad but was unable to through his word alone so to remove the evil in them he brought the trial about.
